Myanmar (Burma) Tours & Holidays

Our thoughts are with the people in Myanmar, including our own team members, tour leaders and their families. Intrepid is not currently operating any tours in Myanmar.

Please visit our Travel Alerts page for more information.

Myanmar’s stunning gold pagodas, ancient towns and forested landscapes are completely worthy of any travel-lover's attention. When the time is right, we look forward to once again visiting a family-run workshop in Bagan, learning from a community project in Pakkoku, or simply mingling with villagers in Kalaw. Any future decisions to resume operations in Myanmar will be based on the safety of travellers, staff and local communities.

I definitely enjoyed this trip. The locals are welcoming, generous and quite lovely. The food was delicious although quite spicy (coming from a Western palate lol). Our guide, Peter, was informative, at times funny, making the trip interesting, with his factual and legendary stories. The hotel/accomodation were mostly good and my favourite one was in Inle Lake (the Paradise) as it felt homey and there is a patio you can relax as you drink your tea and staying in the community lodge was an excellent touch. Although I enjoy the entire trip, there are two things that really made impact with me. One is staying in the community lodge, walking/biking and visiting the community villages and interacting (learning to cook with what they use, applying tanaka, etc) with the women and seeing the children in school (practicing their english). Second is the boat ride in Inle Lake and seeing the fishermen, the weavers, the silversmith, etc. and enjoying an excellent delicious lunch from a local family. If you are in Bagan, you must do the balloon ride. Seeing hundreds of pagodas, the fields up above as the sun rises was unforgettable experience.

Intrepid’s connection with the culture and the communities comes through its guides who are native to country and cultures we explored. The richness of our trip was beyond our wildest expectations and we will book again.

I had never taken a group tour before and a friend had recommended Intrepid. My trip to Myanmar was amazing. The itinerary and organization was superb. Our group leader, Peter, was extremely knowledge of the culture, people, and history of the country and the various places we visited. He ensured the trip was worry free for everyone. I highly recommend this fascinating trip.
