Intrepid to increase Mexico product by 36% this year alone

Intrepid Travel has appointed Leticia Franco as its first General Manager for Mexico, marking a major milestone in the company’s continued expansion across Latin America.

Franco brings more than 25 years of destination management expertise to the role. A Cancún native, she co-founded and led Olympus Tours, which was later acquired by Flight Centre Travel Group and integrated into Discova. In her new position, she will oversee Intrepid’s ambitious growth strategy in Mexico, including the launch of the company’s first office in the country later this year and plans to double its current staff.

Her appointment comes as Intrepid accelerates expansion across Latin America. The company plans to operate 36 percent more itineraries in Mexico in 2026 as they’ve seen 22 percent YOY growth in passengers. Intrepid is also opening or scaling destination management companies in Canada, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil.

“I firmly believe that exceptional travel experiences are built by empowered teams, trusted commercial partners, and responsible engagement with local communities,” said Leticia Franco, General Manager Mexico, Intrepid Travel. “This philosophy has consistently guided my leadership approach so Intrepid Travel couldn’t be a better fit.”

Leigh Barnes, President of the Americas at Intrepid Travel, said the appointment reflects both the company’s growth trajectory and its commitment to locally rooted leadership.

“Leticia brings deep regional expertise, entrepreneurial leadership, and a genuine connection to the communities we work with. With Mexico playing a pivotal role for our U.S. and Canadian travelers, her local insight ensures our expansion across Mexico and Latin America not only accelerates growth, but deepens partnerships, supports regional suppliers, and delivers meaningful impact where it matters most.”

Mexico represents one of the fastest-growing markets in the Americas for Intrepid, driven by rising demand for experience-rich travel and increased interest in community-based, locally led itineraries.
