Best time to visit Zion National Park

A group of travellers wearing hiking gear hike through the canyons of Zion National Park in Utah.

The best time to visit Zion National Park depends on what you'd like to do and how you feel about crowds. Summer offers the best access to hiking trails, but it can be the hottest and busiest season in one of the USA's most visited parks. For a nice balance of comfortable weather and fewer crowds, aim for late spring or early autumn. Zion is a big park with changing elevations, so conditions vary. Snowmelt, rainfall and summer storms can bring the possibility of flash floods, but these are simply things to keep in mind when planning your hikes. If you're exploring more of the USA's national parks like Bryce Canyon and Arches, keep in mind that varying weather can make each park feel a little different.
