Rome to Amalfi

Discover southern Italy’s highlights on an adventure from Rome to the Amalfi Coast
Why you'll love this trip
- Discover the well-preserved ruins of Pompeii with a local guide and get a glimpse into what daily Roman life was like before the city’s tragic fate in 79 AD.
- Hike up to the crater rim of the still active Mt Vesuvius (1281 m) – known for the eruption that covered Pompeii with ash – where you’ll have prime views over the Bay of Naples.
- Spend a couple of days exploring the seaside resort town of Sorrento – famous for its old streets, fresh seafood and lemon groves – and enjoy a tasting of tangy limoncello liqueur.
- Fuel your adventures with a pizza tasting in Naples – the alleged birthplace of this beloved carb – and experience the Neapolitan custom of caffe sospeso (the act of paying it forward).
- Explore the Amalfi Coast on a half-day hike along the Sentiero Degli Dei (Path of the Gods), then see the cliffside town of Positano from a different angle on a scenic ferry back to Minori.

Important notes
1. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement is subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
2. Please note that the physical rating for this trip is set at 2. While this is correct for the overall trip, there are some components that are of a higher physical rating. Both the climb to the summit of Mt Vesuvius and the hike on the Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei) require a certain amount of fitness. Please read the day-to-day itinerary carefully or speak to your leader for more details. Activities can be opted out of if you don't want to participate.
3. You don't have a lot of time in Rome at the start of the trip, so if you're keen to explore this spectacular city in depth we recommend you arrive a day or two before the start of the trip, especially if you would like to see the Vatican Museum as it is closed most Sundays.
