UNGCNA x Intrepid leadership trip

This five-day Leadership Trip is designed for C-suite executives, board members and senior leaders seeking an immersive professional development experience to network with peers ahead of COP31. 

Both UNGCNA participants and non-participants are welcome. Non-participants may wish to consider joining UNGCNA to obtain member pricing.

Priority will be given to business organisations

This trip is designed to complement engagement with COP31 (it does not include attendance to COP31 – see more on how to engage with COP31 below). 

We recommend checking your government’s official travel advice for Turkey before booking and again prior to departure. This will provide the most up‑to‑date information on entry requirements, safety considerations and local conditions relevant to your trip. 

This includes advice not only for your destination, but also for any countries you transit through as part of your flight route. 

Where government advice recommends against travel to certain countries, travellers should ensure their flights are booked via alternative transit routes. It is your responsibility to confirm that your full itinerary, including all stopovers, complies with current travel advice and is covered by your travel insurance. 

Travellers from some nationalities can travel to Turkey without a visa for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Other travellers must apply for a visa online or through a Turkish embassy or consulate before travelling.  

To enter Turkey, you may also need:  

• A passport issued within the past ten years  
• A passport valid for at least six months after return  
• Proof of onward or exit travel.

Visa requirements vary by nationality, and obtaining the correct visa for your trip, including for any countries you transit through, is your responsibility.

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is essential for this trip.  

Your policy should cover all regions included in your itinerary, including countries you transit through, and provide appropriate medical, evacuation and cancellation cover. We recommend confirming this with your insurer before booking. 

All travellers are required to have travel insurance before the start of their trip. Your policy should cover all regions included in your itinerary, including any countries you transit through, and provide appropriate cover for medical expenses, emergency evacuation and repatriation, trip cancellation, and personal liability. 

It’s important to understand that each country you visit may have specific entry requirements, and some destinations require proof of travel health insurance for all foreign travellers, regardless of nationality. 

At a minimum, your policy must cover medical expenses and emergency repatriation. Coverage requirements may vary between trips, so please check the Travel Insurance section of your Essential Trip Information carefully. You will not be permitted to join the group until your trip leader has sighted: 

• Your insurance policy number, and
• Your insurer’s 24‑hour emergency contact number

The UNFCCC’s COP conference is typically divided up into two points of access via the Green Zone and the Blue Zone. The Green Zone is open to the public and the Blue Zone – which houses the Global Climate Negotiations – requires delegate approval, which can be applied for via the Australian Government’s COP31 Engagement Hub.

All announcements about applications and approvals come through the COP31 Engagement Hub. In previous years, the application process for Blue Zone access was announced around July/August, with approvals starting around September/October.  

Attendance at the leadership trip does not guarantee Blue Zone access. All attendees will have to apply through the COP31 Engagement Hub. While the UNGCNA cannot offer direct Blue Zone delegate passes, the UNGCNA team are available to talk through the application process and offer general insights and support.

This trip is designed as a small group learning experience, with participant numbers intentionally kept limited to support meaningful discussion, connection and immersion. For this reason, partners are not included on the trip.

To secure your place, a $400 AUD deposit is required at the time of booking. Your booking will be confirmed once the deposit has been received.

The deposit forms part of your total trip cost, with the final balance due 90 days prior to departure.

This trip requires a minimum number of bookings to guarantee the departure. A Booking Agent will advise at the time of booking whether the departure has met minimum numbers.

If the minimum number is not met, you will be advised no later than 90 days prior to trip departure, and before final payment is due. If the departure is cancelled due to minimum numbers not being met, a full refund of any payments made will be provided.

We recommend arranging flights and any related travel services once your departure is confirmed.

The final balance payment is required 90 days prior to travel.

Cancellation by the traveller

The following cancellation fees apply:

• More than 90 days prior to departure: loss of deposit
• 89 days or fewer prior to departure: 100% cancellation fees apply
• No‑shows: treated as a cancellation and incur 100% cancellation fees

Cancellation by Intrepid is handled in line with Intrepid’s standard booking conditions, as detailed in Clause 8 of the Standard Booking Conditions.
