Benvenuto! Welcome to Italy. Your trip begins at 12:30 pm at Molo Beverello – a ferry port on the coast of Naples. Your skipper will be waiting here for you with your tickets to catch the ferry to Procida Island, where your sailing adventure officially starts. Board the yacht in Procida and join a welcome meeting led by your skipper, then head to the local supermarket to buy supplies. Sail the short distance to Ischia –in contrast to Procida, this is the largest island in the Bay of Naples. Disembark and shake off the sea legs by exploring the famous Castello Aragonese, built in the 1400s. This impressive fortress sits suspended above the sea on a volcanic rock connected to Ischia. Tonight, ask your skipper for the best dinner spots and maybe head out with your group before spending your first night at sea.

The beauty of sailing is that each day is unique, and while you have a destination to reach, if the weather changes or something takes the group’s fancy, the skipper is flexible on the day's itinerary.
Spend the first part of your day in Ischia. This volcanic island in the Gulf of Naples is known for its mineral-rich thermal waters and hot springs. Maybe you’d like to visit Spiaggia dei Pescatori – an idyllic beach between Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte. This afternoon, you’ll set sail for Sorrento. This coastal town offers panoramic views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Tonight, you’ll have the opportunity to try one of Sorrento's well-known exports – Limoncello. This liqueur is produced from locally grown Femminello Santa Teresa lemons, yum!

This morning, catch a train to the abandoned city of Pompeii – a Roman settlement that was frozen in time when Mount Vesuvius erupted. When you arrive, you have the option to visit the Pompeii ruins or Mount Vesuvius National Park – or both! If you choose to visit the ruins, get a glimpse into the lives of the ancient Romans as you wander through the well-preserved buildings, artwork and pottery. After, maybe find a local cafe for lunch. Then, maybe join a guided tour to Mt Vesuvius – this active stratovolcano erupted in 79 AD that buried Pompeii, Herculaneum and Stabiae. Later, head back to Sorrento where the rest of the evening is free for you to explore at your own pace.

The cost of your entry ticket to Mt Vesuvius will include the services of a volcanology guide and if you're lucky enough to visit on a clear day, you'll have incredible views over the Bay of Naples and into the crater. Although Mt Vesuvius is still considered to be an active volcano, the last eruption was in 1944 and there's no sign of lava.
This morning you’ll set sail for the Amalfi Coast, passing the Sirenusas (Gallos) archipelago to the east of the Sorrentine Peninsula. The afternoon is free to explore Amalfi at your own pace. Maybe discover the medieval architecture of Sant'Andrea Cathedral and Cappuccini Convent or walk along the narrow trails through olive groves, vineyards and ancient villages. While the trails are steep and full of stairs, there are marvellous views over the ocean at regular intervals. Why not join an optional dinner with your group this evening and feast on local seafood and gelato?

Today, set sail to the Isle of Capri – once home to the grand holiday palaces of the Roman emperors. When you arrive, there’s an optional excursion in a small motorboat. If you take the boat, you’ll see the island, its impressive cliffs and many grottos – including the green, white and the famous Blue Grotto. To enter the Blue Grotto, you'll need to switch to a smaller rowboat, and although swimming in the grotto isn’t permitted, there’s a small platform close by where you can take a dip. After, there will be time to catch the bus to the Town of Capri or visit the hillside town of Anacapri. If you head there, it's worth visiting the Villa San Michele – the former home to a Swedish doctor, built on the ruins of a Roman villa. After, make your way to the town by the Phoenician Steps (Scala Fenicia) – a long, steep stairway linking the towns of Capri and Anacapri.

In July and August, the mooring in Capri can be very busy, so after your visit to Capri, we may need to sail onto Procida in the afternoon where you will stay overnight.
A moderate fitness level and comfortable shoes are required if you decide to climb the Phoenician Steps.
After breakfast, you’ll sail back to Procida. Stop for a swim along the way, arriving by the afternoon. Enjoy a free afternoon exploring the beautiful town on foot – maybe people watch at a local cafe or visit the Palazzo d’Avalos – the island’s former prison. Tonight, sail to the main marina. On the way, you’ll stop at Marina Della Carricella to see one of the most photographed parts of the island. Then, maybe set out on an optional group dinner in the town of rabbit stew or seafood, accompanied by a couple of glasses of local wine and some Limoncello. What better way to cap off a great sailing trip?

Before you book you should know
- As most of this trip takes place on a sailing boat, you’ll need to feel comfortable with moving about the vessel, including using stairs. If you’re prone to seasickness, it is advised that you bring some tablets from home.
- Our yachts have a small Zodiac on board, which is used to transport travellers to shore if we need to anchor in the bay. However, we will most often overnight in the small marinas on each island we visit, so the Zodiacs aren’t used. Zodiacs can sometimes be awkward to climb in and out of, but a sense of humour and a can-do attitude are all you need.
- This is an adventure on board a real yacht, which means living spaces, cabins, bathrooms and showers need to be shared with other passengers. Sleeping quarters can be relatively compact, but you will spend most of your time above board in the open air.

The trip starts on Day 1 in Naples at 12.30pm and finishes on day 7 on Procida Island.
ACCOMMODATION ONBOARD THIS SAILING YACHT
This trip is accommodated entirely on board a yacht of between 48ft to 52ft. The yacht sleeps 8 travellers in the following cabin types:
2 x double bed cabins
2 x twin/double cabins (these cabins will have 2 separate single mattresses that can be booked as either twin share or double share)
There are 3 bathrooms with hot showers and a fully equipped kitchen. Everyone including the skipper shares the bathrooms onboard. Our boats are real yachts, and this is a real sailing trip. Yachts are designed to keep sleeping areas to the absolute minimum of space, while maximising common areas as much as possible.
Solo travellers can be matched up in twin share cabins with another traveller of the same gender. Or they can pay a single supplement to get a cabin to themselves.
Double bed cabins are only available for couples or friends travelling together who are happy to share a double bed. Or a solo traveller who pays for a single supplement.
While not everyone may feel entirely comfortable living in such close quarters, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort from cramped living conditions is more than made up for by the whole experience.
PASSPORT DETAILS:
Please provide full passport details at time of booking including exact name as per passport, date of birth, nationality, issue and expiry dates as these are essential for booking services on this trip.
TRIP KITTY:
On this trip it's compulsory to contribute to a kitty of EUR90 per person. The kitty is an on-ground payment put into a central fund managed by travellers. It helps fund for breakfast and lunch on the boat and other small items such as ice, water, snacks and drinks. Travellers are responsible for the preparation of these meals onboard and to shop at port where supermarkets are often very close to the mooring. Kitty amounts are subject to change to reflect local price increases. On day 1, the skipper will talk through the kitty and how it will be managed (by yourself or fellow travellers) The kitty will be collected when you arrive at the welcome meeting or in stages throughout your trip.
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a third-party. The "Add connection" feature shows transit visa requirements only and does not include full entry visa needs. Please note, additional service fees apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa.

This trip is accommodated entirely on board a yacht of between 48ft to 52ft. A typical yacht for 8 travellers is equipped with 4 double share cabins, 2/3 shared bathrooms and 2 showers. Our boats are real yacht’s and this is a real sailing trip. Yachts are designed to keep sleeping areas to the absolute minimum of space, while maximising common areas as much as possible.
Rooms are allocated on arrival by our skipper according to group composition, which means it is not possible to reserve or guarantee any specific berth or cabin. Single passengers will be paired up with another passenger of the same gender, which will mean sharing a double cabin with a double mattress. Everyone including the skipper shares the bathrooms on board. There is no twin share bedding on this yacht.
While not everyone may feel entirely comfortable living in such close quarters, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort from cramped living conditions is more than made up for by the whole experience.
ELECTRICITY:
While there should be electricity on board throughout your trip the voltage is likely to vary widely, from 12V to 220V, and when in port or moored we are dependent on the supply available. Please be aware that the supply may not be sufficient to power some electronic devices all the time and that you may need a voltage adapter or similar (such as portable inverter used in cars). On some trips it may be possible to charge devices ashore at restaurants or resorts, however this is not guaranteed.
ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATION:
Please note that the majority of our sailing trips start and/or finish at a marina or port. For most of our destinations, we can provide transfers between the airport/hotel and the port/marina. Please check the joining and finish point information in the trip notes for details.
WI-FI:
Please note that our sailing boats do not have Wi-Fi. You will be getting off the boat and visiting towns regularly so you will be able to connect with the outside world then.

Please make your way to the Mollo Beverello Naples ferry Port by 12:30 pm on day 1 of the trip.
Your Intrepid leader will be wearing an Intrepid t-shirt and will be waiting for you outside the Gran Bar Riviera cafe located in the ferry terminal.
You will depart from the port immediately after a short group meeting, if you are late or delayed you will need to catch up with the group in the following destination at your own expense.

It is worth booking an extra nights' accommodation before this trip if you wish to experience more of Naples. Please contact your sales agent if you would like to book a hotel in Naples before your trip.
Naples Capodichino airport is located 7km from Naples city centre. Taxis will cost around EUR 20 to EUR 25 to transfer to the Naples ferry terminal. Make sure you agree on the price with the driver before getting in the taxi as some drivers will try and charge between EUR30 - EUR40.
There is also a Shuttle bus that costs around EUR 4 and runs every 30 min taking approx. 25 min. Be sure to get off at the stop ‘Stazione Marittima’ (you can check with the Shuttle driver).
Another option is to travel by train from Rome Termini station to Naples (journey time approx 1-2 hours and fares between EUR20-50). You can then grab a taxi (Costs around EUR 10) or take the shuttle that leaves from the airport Naples train station and stops at Naples Port (Costs around EUR 5 – journey time 15 min)
