Why you'll love this trip
  • With an included two-day pass to majestic Petra, you will not only have a guided tour of the complex but will also spend time at your leisure to focus on the sections that interest you.
  • Experience the best buoyance this side of outer space with time for your small group to effortlessly float in the super-salty waters of the Dead Sea.
  • Hop in a jeep and see the extraordinary desert scenery of Wadi Rum – a rugged lunar-like landscape of huge sandstone mountains and ancient structures hidden in the sandy dunes.
  • After your day of four-wheel-driving in Wadi Rum, spend a night under the stars with a special experience at a desert camp run by Bedouin locals – full of good food and warm hospitality.
  • Marvel at the well-preserved ancient Roman city of Jerash on a guided tour, and discover the religious significance and Ottoman and Byzantine influence in Madaba.

Is this trip right for you?
  • There is quite a bit of walking involved in visiting Jordan's historic sites, especially in Petra and Wadi Rum, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Most of the time there is no shade so remember to bring a hat, sun protection, and sturdy, comfortable walking shoes.
  • The diversity of the seasons here makes for incredible scenery, but the weather in this region can be unpredictable. It’s best to wear layers at all times of the year in case conditions change during the day. At night the temperature can really drop, so bring your warm clothes. Camping can be especially cold at the start and end of the season. Even in the warmer months, the temperature can be low in the mountains.
  • The desert camp in Wadi Rum is basic. There are tents and shared western bathroom facilities. Please be aware that while the desert may be very hot during the day, it will still be cool at night and warm clothes and a sleeping bag is highly recommended when travelling outside of the summer months. Despite this, the warm Bedouin hospitality and chance to be out under the stars certainly makes up for the camp’s simplicity.

It’s been a brilliant trip with our tour lead Zaid! I felt like having a reliable and fun local friend showing us the hospitality of his country. The itinerary to start with Wadi Rum, then Petra, then wind down at the Dead Sea was a good balance. There was a wide range of optional activities that I’d say suit everyone. The optional back trail walk from Little Petra to Petra (around 7km) was the highlight for me, with perfect temperature (around 16-19oC), sunny weather, incredible companions (thanks Zaid!) and breath-taking view. I’d also highly recommending Petra by Night on Thursday. Worth noting it’s been fairly quiet at several sites + favourable weather condition, so now (early to mid November) seems to be the good time to visit Jordan. I’ve also felt safe during this trip despite what’s happening in the region.

Just back from exploring the Middle Eastern gem that is Jordan. What a fantastic week seeing and experiencing this beautiful country and all it has to offer. From snorkelling to exploring the desert by foot and by camel, wandering through Petra by day and by night and taking in ancient cities, this week is one I will treasure. Jordan is beautiful and our guide Zaid was incredible and extremely knowledgeable. His passion was contagious and he took excellent care of us as we explored this Middle Eastern gem. If this is on your list to visit, definitely do it.

What a fascinating country! Explore Jordan really packs so much into one week, with two nights under the stars and a full free extra day at Petra! Our tour leader shared so much knowledge about history and culture I feel much richer for having experienced this trip.

I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone wanting to make travel through Jordan easy. Having our local tour leader Eyad was one of the absolute highlights of my trip, he made it an incredibly fun experience whilst also giving great background to the country, which can sometimes be missed in individual travel. Having two days in Petra was a plus, and the time at Wadi Rum was amazing. Only part of itinerary that I think could be skipped was the time in Aqaba. Just to note there was a fair amount of walking, particularly in Petra which could be steep at times so decent level of fitness needed. Also trip notes for sleeping bag in colder months - I would check the weather forecast close to when you're going. At the start of November it definitely wasn't needed (though was apparently warmer than usual), a decent amount of warm bedding is provided. Hotel quality was just as expected for what's described. Overall a great experience with great people in an amazing country.
