Dobro Dosli! Welcome to Croatia. Your adventure begins in the coastal city of Split, with a welcome meeting at 6 pm tonight. If you arrive early, maybe visit the ruins of Diocletian's Palace, explore the original basements under the city or simply unwind with a walk along the waterfront. After your meeting, maybe head out for dinner with your group or grab a drink at a bar on the Riva Promenade.

It’s very important that you attend the welcome meeting as we will be collecting insurance details and next of kin information at this time. If you are going to be late, please let your travel agent or hotel reception know. Ask reception or look for a note in the lobby for more information on where the meeting will take place.
You will need to bring your own bike helmet for this trip. As bike shops are closed on Sundays, the group will depart Split the following day before the shops open.
It’s an early start today as you catch the ferry from Split to Supetar on the island of Brac. There will be a bike fitting for the group followed by a short test ride to ensure everything is working properly. From here, begin your first - and possibly the hardest - ride in Croatia, cycling from Supetar along the coastal road to the seaside village of Pucisca. Along the way, take a short detour to the tiny village of Dol, passing vineyards, fig trees and olive groves. Start your first climb up to the village of Pucisca, and enjoy an optional lunch then continue up to Praznica – it’s a pretty steep climb, but you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views over the Adriatic Sea. Have a rest at the top then cycle across the centre to the descent into the town of Bol. Bol is famous for the Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) – one of the Adriatic’s most beautiful beaches. Take a quick swim at the beach and maybe visit the famous Stina Winery for a tasting before seeking out some fresh seafood for dinner.

Your travel time today will be approximately 1 hour. Your cycling distance will be approximately 52 km/32 miles with an elevation gain of 990 m/3,250 ft
This morning, take a boat between islands to the small port of Jelsa. From here, start riding to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Stari Grad Plain. Set in a protected bay, Stari Grad is one of Europe’s oldest towns, settled by Neolithic tribes as far back as 3500 BC. Today, the old stone houses, narrow streets and small squares still retain a deeply historic feel. Spend some time exploring Stari Grad at your own pace – maybe visit the Dominican Monastery or Tvrdalj Fortress. Then, continue along a less-trafficked old road to Hvar Island before descending through the old village of Brusje and down into Hvar Town. When you arrive, maybe stroll the pjaca (piazza), visit St Stephen’s Cathedral or take in the views of the palaces which surround the town.

This morning, catch a catamaran to Korcula – a Venetian Renaissance-inspired walled city of narrow streets, medieval towers and the reputed birthplace of Marco Polo. Ther day is free for you to explore - head to the beach in Lumbarada, visit one of family owned wineries, stroll in the streets of beautiful old town, or enjoy coffee or wine on promenade. Tonight, maybe head out for dinner with your fellow travellers or find a bar with a view of the Adriatic.

- Breakfast
Since we arrive in the morning, there may be times that not all rooms will be ready. You can leave at the hotel, or send it with our support vehicle and take only smaller daybag with necessaries. Our support van will arrive to Korcula in the afternoon.
Spend the morning on the road, as you drive through Korcula, past vineyards, olive groves and forests up to the hamlet of Pupnat. The position of Pupnat and steepness of the approach is no accident – it was designed to help keep the town safe from pirates through the ages. When you arrive, hop on your bike for the descent to Pupnatska Luka – a beautiful bay with a pebble beach. Follow the countryside road, passing through vineyards and olive farms and through the old villages Smokvica and Čara. Enjoy a refreshing stop in Brna village on the coast before the final climb to Blato and descending to the port town of Vela Luka. Here, you’ll have time to walk around and a quick bite to eat before boarding a local bus for the journey back to Korcula Town. This evening enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

This morning, take a boat to Orebic and fuel up with breakfast before driving high above the small village of Postup to its panoramic viewpoint. Here, you’ll take to the coastal backroads and cycle through the hills of the Dingac before continuing to Zuljana and up to Putnikovic. When you arrive, stop for an optional wine tasting before cycling across the island to Ston. After, drive to Dubrovnik where you'll join your leader for an orientation walk. Walk through the medieval city then carry on exploring at your own pace. Tonight, maybe join your group for dinner to celebrate the last night of your cycling adventure.

When you travel with us, The Intrepid Foundation gives you more opportunities to support important causes in destinations you visit.
Why choose us
We’re adventure travel experts with decades of experience and proud to run trips in over 100 countries.
We keep our group sizes small and our experiences big, so you can get more out of your travels.
Leaders don’t just show off a destination, they’re the heart and soul of our trips.
The Intrepid Foundation gives back globally and our B Corp status is proof that we're dedicated to creating a positive impact.
Before you book you should know
- To complete this trip, it’s important that you are both confident and competent in riding a bicycle.
- You’ll have a leader that rides with the group, and another that drives the support vehicle (acting as a back marker where needed). Where the vehicle cannot travel directly with the cyclists (e.g. a cyclists-only path) your leader will assign a person from the group to act as a back marker.
- While the cycling distances on this trip are relatively short (the longest ride is only 50 km), the terrain of the Dalmatian Coast is naturally hilly and the climate often warm. You’ll need a reasonable level of fitness to enjoy the trip, but the support vehicle is always on hand if you need to take a break for an hour or a day.
- As your riding is done mostly on sealed roads with the occasional gravel cycle path, there are no technical cycling skills required. Given the hills, we do suggest practicing riding downhill, so you’re comfortable once the trip begins.
- As there are cobblestones and many stairs in most European towns, and space in our support van is limited, it's strongly recommended that you leave any wheelie bags/cases at home and bring a backpack instead.
- Hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together.
- This trip is part of a longer itinerary. You might be joining travellers who have already spent some time together. If you have more time to explore, you might like to check out our Cycle Croatia & the Balkans trip.
1. It is very important that you provide your height at time of booking so we can ensure that you have the appropriate sized bicycle when your trip starts. If you do not provide your height ahead of arrival we cannot guarantee a suitably sized bike for you.
2. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement applies to all nights on your trip and is subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
3. Bicycle hire is included in your trip price. Please advise your height at time of booking so as we can organize a suitable sized bike.
4. Bike helmets are compulsory on this trip. We are unable to hire bike helmets locally so please ensure you bring your own bike helmet from home.
5. On this trip we have a single leader that rides with the group, and another that drives the support vehicle (acting as a back marker where needed). Where the vehicle cannot travel directly with the cyclists (e.g. a cyclists-only path) your leader will assign a person from the group to act as a back marker.
6. An e-bike option (at additional cost) may be available on this trip. We have limited numbers of these bikes available and they are an 'on request' basis only. Please ask your agent for more details at the time of booking. Due to licencing restrictions clients are unable to bring their own e-bike on this trip.
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a third-party. The "Add connection" feature shows transit visa requirements only and does not include full entry visa needs. Please note, additional service fees apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa.
