Glasgow is Scotland's biggest city and one of the best (and easiest) ways to travel there from other parts of the UK is by train.

There are several train companies that offer services to Glasgow from major cities in Scotland and parts of England with routes including London to Glasgow, Manchester to Glasgow, and Edinburgh to Glasgow.

Glasgow is a fascinating city full of different attractions and landmarks and thankfully, there are a number of ways for you to get around and see everything this vibrant Scottish town has to offer. Driving is a good option if you want to get around Glasgow in a time-efficient way but you can also walk, cycle, or catch public transportation with the commuter rail system, Glasgow's Underground network, and bus tours all providing services to the most popular parts of the city. 

Glasgow is known to have a moderate sea climate which means cold (and sometimes freezing) winters and relatively sunny, dry summers.

It is unlikely for temperatures in the summer to reach extreme levels with an average temperature around 20°C. Rainfall is likely to occur throughout most seasons, especially winter, spring, and autumn, and days often see only 6 hours of sunshine. 

While temperatures in Glasgow in winter can reach freezing levels, it doesn't always snow.

Some years experience heavier snowfall, whereas other years hardly get any snow at all, and if they do, it doesn't stick around for long.

While you might experience a rain shower or two, these usually pass quickly so you can return to your Glasgow adventure.

The time of year you're travelling in goes a long way in figuring out what you should pack for your trip.

If you plan to visit Glasgow during winter, spring, and autumn, then you'll likely expect a rain shower or two. Pack your wellies, an umbrella, and other waterproof gear like jackets and coats.

It never gets hot in summer, so T-shirts and shorts will be appropriate, but pack sunscreen and hats to protect yourself against the sun. Also, remember to pack a camera with you and a reusable water bottle for your many activities and adventures.
