New guide shows how travel companies can inspire and equip travellers to protect nature, turning awareness into action across every stage of the journey

Intrepid Travel, the world’s largest adventure travel company and a global leader in responsible tourism, has released a new open-source guide designed to help travel companies inspire travellers become active stewards of the natural world.

Ambassadors for Nature: A Guide to Engaging Travellers in Conservation”, explores the collective power of travellers as advocates for nature . It outlines how each stage of the travel journey can build environmental awareness and lay the foundation for turning good intentions into meaningful action, inspired by the wonder, learning and joy that travel provides.

Developed with support from the University of Tasmania’s Antarctic Tourism Research Program, the guide offers practical tools, case studies and recommendations for travel operators, agents and destination management organisations. It also shows how companies can empower their customers to advocate for nature - helping the industry better protect the wildlife, ecosystems and biodiversity it depends on, and ensuring they thrive for generations to come.

We believe travel, when done right, can be a powerful force for collective impact,” says Meegan Marshall, Chief People and Purpose Officer, Intrepid Travel.

“This guide is about turning intention into action and equipping travel companies to empower travellers as advocates for nature, while fostering collective impact across the industry.”

The release follows Intrepid’s recent B Corp recertification and reinforces its commitment to transparency and impact. It also contributes to Intrepid’s expanding suite of free resources, designed to encourage collective impact through collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the travel industry
