Why you'll love this trip
  • Leave behind the vibrant, modern pizzazz of Phuket and set sail on the beautifully calm waters of the Andaman Sea
  • There are few things more relaxing than sleeping out beneath the stars, rocked by the gentle pitch of a yacht
  • Slip into the indulgent beach-loving life with walks on the finest white sand, and swims and snorkels in the inviting azure waters of Thailand’s best beaches
  • Feast on delicious food with no effort at all, with the on-board chef whipping up Thai favourites
  • Just relax: the biggest decision of the day is whether to paddleboard or kayak

Is this trip right for you?
  • As the majority of this trip takes place on a sailing boat, you’ll need to feel comfortable with moving about the vessel, including the use of stairs. With that said, sea legs come naturally to some but not so much for others. Your friendly crew will be able to help with the effects of sea sickness if needed.
  • A zodiac is used to transport passengers from the boat to the mainland, with landings taking place at piers (dry landings) as well as on beaches (wet landings). Zodiacs can sometimes be awkward to climb in and out of, but a sense of humour and can-do attitude is all you need.
  • This is an adventure on board a real yacht, which means living spaces, cabins, bathrooms and showers need to be shared with other passengers. Sleeping quarters can be quite compact, but you will be spending the majority of your time above board in the open air.
  • Time on the water also means time in the sun. Remember to pack sun protection, such as sun screen and a hat, and drink plenty of water to keep hydrated. See ‘Essential Trip Information’ below for a full packing list.
  • Please note that smooth sailing is dependent on the weather, so itinerary changes may occur at the last minute if the weather becomes unfavourable. If any changes are made, you can trust in your knowledgeable skipper to choose an alternative route or activity.
  • Due to the size of the yachts, sound carries easily from one side to the other and can wake your fellow travellers. Please keep this in mind if you’re planning to have a late night.

A twin-hulled catamaran, the ‘beautiful orchid’ carries up to 14 passengers in three twin/double cabins and two quad cabins with en-suite facilities.

1. The tour commences from Phuket on Day 1 at 1 pm and finishes on arrival into Phuket on Day 7 at approximately 12 pm depending on weather conditions.

This trip is accommodated on board a 58 foot, twin-hulled sailing catamaran. Our boat is equipped with 1 x twin-share, 2 x double-share and 2 x quad-share cabins each with en-suite bathrooms and fans.
The skipper will allocate the rooms on arrival to the boat and single travellers will be paired up with another passenger of the same sex, this may mean sharing a double mattress. The skipper will also be sharing the catamaran's facilities and sleeping quarters.
While some may find the living quarters quite close, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort is more than made up for by the spirit of this sailing experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the Thai Islands on the lovely and well equipped Catalaya. The boat has lots of toys (canoes/paddle boards, snorkelling and floats) and is very comfortable. Ice, who is a master chef, produced meals beyond our expectation. Each meal had multiple dishes and nothing was ever a problem. Our skipper, Doh is lovely and he a Rob encouraged the guests to participate in the everyday workings of the vessel. The crew have a lovely comeraderie and we passengers really enjoyed the banter and practical joking that kept us all on our toes. This was a wonderful holiday for people with a reasonable level of fitness. To get the most out of this trip I would suggest you need to be someone who loves the water. Rob is a very patient and considerate guide. Very knowledgeable, passionate and environmentally conscious. This is our 4th Intrepid trip and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this trip to family and friends.

I had an amazing time on this sailing adventure - Rob, Do and Ice all took great care of us on the boat. We ate great food, swam in beautiful water, and watched the most lovely sunsets every night.

To me this is the best way to enjoy a holiday in Phuket. The crew of Cataleya are the best at what they do. We went to all the best snorkelling spots, saw pristine beaches and enjoyed the best sunset every night. I still don't know how Chef Ice turned out so many wonderful dishes from a boat kitchen. By the end of the trip you wouldn't want to leave. I couldn't thank Captain Rob, Do and Chef Ice enough for making it such a memorable week for us.

Many thanks to Rob & the crew on board of Cataleya for the wonderful experience. The boat was large, comfortable and fully equipped. The staff was professional, health & safety conscious and helped create a very enjoyable and inclusive environment. Thai meals prepared by chef Ice were also unbelievably good, as other reviews pointed out. Lucky to have shared this trip and created great memories with the other travelers on board, many of which were likeminded solo travelers from around the world. Highly recommend this trip. Thanks again!
