Intrepid Travel releases new open-source industry resource demonstrating ways purpose fuels profit at certified B Corp

June 2025

"The Business of Better: How B Corp certification drives success", reveals how Intrepid’s purpose has helped drive measurable business growth and encourages others to join business for good community

Intrepid Travel, world leader in sustainable, experience-rich travel, has released a new open-source guide aimed at demonstrating how its B Corp certification has helped deliver tangible business gains across the key areas of governance, finance, brand, partnerships and people.

Tangible business benefits identified include high levels of staff satisfaction — its latest employee engagement survey revealed that 80% of staff say the company’s purpose-driven initiatives are a key reason they continue to work at the company – more readily managing risk and reputation and building greater customer trust.

B Corp certification is one of the world’s largest and most trusted independent stamps of assurance that a company upholds high environmental, social and governance standards. It is known for its rigorous criteria and routine recertification processes to hold businesses accountable.

While Intrepid has been B Corp certified since 2018, it has a long history of leading on social and environmental issues with a mission to create positive change through the joy of travel.

Intrepid’s most recent B Corp recertification was achieved in early 2025, with the company receiving an all-time high score of 102.5. Up from 91.2 in 2021, the renewed score reflects the business’ progress in advancing global employment equity, diversifying its supply chain, doubling its community investment, and educating and empowering customers.

Rochelle Turner, Global B-Corp Impact Manager at Intrepid, said: “At Intrepid, our purpose is as much about who we are and what we do as it is about why we exist, and becoming a B Corp has helped hold us accountable to always doing better.

At the same time, it’s helped us unlock tangible benefits, from realising cost savings to attracting purpose-driven talent and deepening stakeholder trust.”

In 2024, Intrepid reported record financial performance, with revenues of $626 million (+17% year-on-year), and paid $12.8 million in bonuses to eligible employees in the form of cash and shares through its shareholding scheme.

The guide is the latest in its collection of free resources for the travel industry aimed at fostering greater levels of collaboration and knowledge-sharing on key sustainability issues.
