Intrepid Travel launches ‘Stay Intrepid’ as it expands its accommodation portfolio

The new brand extension introduces a collection of six properties offering experience-led, community-driven stays.

Intrepid Travel, a global leader in responsible travel, has launched ‘Stay Intrepid’, a new brand extension featuring a curated collection of six properties that offer experience-led, community-driven stays. The range includes five signature properties across Australia, as well as a riad in Morocco, with plans to grow into new destinations in the coming years.

The accommodation, which can be booked independent of Intrepid tours, are distinct in character but united by Intrepid’s locally-led, responsible travel ethos, supporting local businesses, celebrating regional cuisine and driving positive impact through partnerships with Intrepid’s non-profit, The Intrepid Foundation.

Each property will offer guests a series of curated experiences that connect travellers with nature and local culture. These include First Nations guided cultural walks and basket weaving at the Daintree Ecolodge, a boutique retreat with treetop bayans nestled in the heart of the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest. South Australia’s Arkaba Homestead in the Flinders Ranges offers immersive bush walks and safari drives, highlighting native wildlife and ongoing conservation efforts. While Riad Joudour in Morocco invites travellers to take part in a cooking class with Intrepid Foundation partner Amal Association, which provides culinary training to help women in Morocco improve their employment opportunities and livelihoods.

The company plans to grow its global accommodation portfolio to include up to 20 Stay Intrepid properties by 2028, with a focus on immersive, hyper-local experiences.

PROPERTY DETAILS

Daintree Ecolodge is a boutique retreat with treetop bayans nestled in the heart of the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest. Guided by Eastern Kuku Yalanji culture and grounded in conservation, the lodge offers a range of immersive experiences including First Nations guided cultural walks and basket weaving, as well as a hands-on cooking class with a local chef, where travellers use native ingredients sourced from the onsite garden. Daintree Ecolodge is partnered with Rainforest Rescue, which has so far planted over 350,000 trees, helping to protect and restore the Daintree Rainforest for generations to come.

Edge of the Bay on the shores of Coles Bay offers travellers a peaceful stay shaped by wild coastline and deep community roots. Family-run for generations, this retreat connects guests to Palawa Country to experience Tasmania’s raw natural beauty. Experiences range from guided hikes and kayaking around the property to curated culinary moments such as Tasmanian whisky and wine tastings with local experts. It partners with Greening Australia which seeks to rebuild resilient ecosystems across Australia through large-scale, on-ground restoration.

Arkaba Homestead is set on Adnyamathanha Country in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges, offering an intimate Outback stay within a vast private wildlife conservancy. Hosting just ten guests, this restored homestead offers immersive walks, conservation-led safaris and a chance to deepen connection with ancient landscapes. 

Bamarru Plains is located on Limilngan Country in the Northern Territory in Australia, on the Mary River floodplains near Kakadu. This safari-style wilderness lodge features airboat safaris and bird-watching tours, with chances to spot whistling ducks, egrets, ibis and crocodiles, creating an experience that is raw, remote and deeply connected to Country. 

Ooraminna Homestead is on Arrernte Country just outside Alice Springs and offers an authentic outback stay shaped by red earth, open skies and warm hospitality. It features uniquely rustic, elevated accommodation, star-filled nights that bring community and storytelling together and a billabong attracting abundant wildlife. 

Riad Joudour is tucked within the historic Marrakech medina in Morocco and is an intimate guesthouse shaped by Moroccan hospitality and everyday life. Carefully restored, it embodies centuries of Moroccan heritage, offering an authentic experience where traditional architecture meets modern comfort. From mint tea welcomes to seasonal Moroccan cuisine, this stay invites meaningful connection to culture, community and place. It partners with Intrepid Foundation partner Amal Association, which provides culinary training to help women in Morocco improve their employment opportunities and livelihoods, with a cooking class offered on the property.
