Intrepid adds pocket-sized guides to its publishing portfolio

April 2026

The two new pocket-sized guidebooks feature a collection of cultural and outdoor travel experiences, designed to inspire people to travel in a more meaningful way.

Intrepid Travel, a world leader in responsible travel, has released two new pocket-sized guidebooks, bringing together different destinations, experiences and perspectives in a compact, travel-friendly format. The Intrepid List: Outdoors and The Intrepid List: Culture each highlight 50 unique travel stories from Intrepid’s inaugural book The Intrepid List, inspired by Intrepid’s experience-rich, locally-led style of travel.

With decades of experience leading small group adventures worldwide, Intrepid’s guidebooks, developed in partnership with Hardie Grant, encourage travellers to learn something new and connect with the people and places they visit.

From exploring the depths of Hang Son Doong, the world’s largest cave, in central Vietnam and observing the world’s last remaining white rhinos (a mother-daughter duo) in Kenya, to sharing a meal with a local family in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco and attending an Inuit throat singing (katajjaq) festival in the northernmost territory of Canada, the two new books bring together unique stories from all corners of the world, reflecting the power of travel to foster connection, curiosity and understanding.

Natalie Placko, Global Brand Director at Intrepid Travel commented:

“We’re delighted to add these new pocket-sized books to our Intrepid Guide collection, inspiring curious travellers in search of new and uncommon experiences in destinations around the world. Each compact guide is designed for the intrepid traveller, someone who values authentic encounters, seeks out local perspectives and wants to go beyond the tourist trail. With a curated selection of unique outdoor and cultural experiences, the new guides are compact enough to take anywhere, offering inspiration throughout your travels.”

The books are part of a collaboration with Hardie Grant, which started in 2024 with Intrepid’s inaugural book, The Intrepid List, a first-of-its-kind hard-cover book of 100 unique stories from travellers around the globe. Since then, the Intrepid Guides collection has expanded to include guidebooks in Japan Iceland, Australia, Italy and Vietnam, with more destinations planned as the range continues to grow.

The Intrepid List: Outdoors and The Intrepid List: Culture are available to purchase online and in leading bookstores globally 2% of all Intrepid book sales will be donated to The Intrepid Foundation, which has so far raised over $10,000 AUD for partners across the globe.
