Lake Titicaca tours & holidays
Floating islands and Inca myths, 3812 m high in the Andes
Andean mythology says Lake Titicaca is the birthplace of the Incas, but Indigenous communities here have been thriving long before that. Glide out to the floating Uros islands to see how families use totora reeds to keep life afloat (literally). Lend a hand with daily chores at a Llachon village homestay – how are your goat herding skills? Then swap stories with your hosts over a feast of crispy-fried trout and quinoa soup. Titicaca is fun to say, and even more fun to explore.

Stay with a Llachon family
Get a feel for high-altitude lake life at a Llachon homestay on Titicaca’s shores. After meeting your new family for the night, learn a few words in Quechua, pitch in with some garden or animal chores and maybe test out your volleyball skills with the villagers. End the day with a hearty home-cooked meal in your host's mud-brick home.
Visit Titicaca's floating islands
Sail out to the Floating Isands of Uros to meet the Indigenous Uros people and gain an insight into their unique way of life. Totora reeds grow in the lake’s shallows and are a lifeline for the community. The reeds are used to build islands, boats, homes and furniture, while the roots make food and medicine.
Meet weavers on Taquile Island
Take a short motorboat ride to Taquile Island, where the locals are known for crafting some of Peru’s top textiles. Knitting is strictly men’s business here, while women dye and spin the wool. If you want to pick up some cosy blankets or jumpers to take home, this is the place to do it!
Uncover Puno’s rich culture
Experience the cultural richness of Puno – the gateway city to Titicaca and also the folklore capital of Peru. The culture here is a mix of Indigenous Aymara, Quechua and Spanish colonial influences, and if you're lucky, your visit might coincide with one of its many festivals or an evening parade, when the streets fill with costumed performers and musicians.
