This trip is for all animal lovers - Borneo’s tropical rainforests and climate provide the ideal conditions for a wide variety of wildlife to thrive, much of it found nowhere else
The Mt Kinabalu trek is very challenging, including an altitude of more than 2,800 metres and an early morning to summit in the dark, so we recommend a good level of fitness to be able to enjoy this unforgettable climb.
The maximum luggage allowance for the internal flight is 15kg. Excess luggage will incur extra fees to be paid to the airline. We recommend packing light anyway – it means less to carry!
We recommend packing specific items for this trip so please take a look at the ‘what to take’ section of the trip notes.
You will get to experience a wide range of accommodation types on this trip – some dormitory rooms in hostels, a homestay, guesthouses, jungle lodge and hotels. Some may be a little more basic than our standard hotels, but their unique location and close proximity to wildlife is what makes them special.

This trip was awesome - it had just the right balance of adventure and wildlife, and you don't feel like your spending all your time on the road. Rony is an extremely knowledgeable, passionate and friendly trip leader. The mountain climb is tough going, I was so glad I did lots of weight training and cardio in the lead up. The most useful things I had for the mountain were good hiking boots (waterproof, good grip and ankle support) and an umbrella (all the mountain guides use them and only wear a jacket if it's sideways rain). There was a wide range of accommodation, but even the most basic places were clean and comfortable. Book this trip - you won't regret it!

Our Sabah Adventure was superb. The Leadership was outstanding with quality connections everywhere we went. Our small group was moulded into a very compatible unit with heaps of support and humour. Every day had new experiences, frequently many. Responsible access to flora and fauna was wonderful. We were delighted with the whole expedition, especially of course with KinaBalu which we senior citizens summited with excellent assistance from our guides! Intrepid..you rock!
