Take a Jenolan Caves tour and learn about the history of this impressive cave system in the Blue Mountains which is widely regarded as one of the most spectacular in Australia. Visit Echo Point lookout

Echo Point lookout is located just outside the National Park and is one of the Blue Mountains' most famous lookouts. It offers a picture-postcard view of the famous Three Sisters rock formation and marks the start of some of the most popular walks in the area. From here, you can also see the Ruined Castle and Mount Solitary.

Visit Wentworth Falls

Marvel at the beauty of Wentworth Falls which plunges 100m down the cliffs to the valley floor. Continue walking until you reach the Wentworth lookout then walk down the stairs to Fletchers lookout where you can take in the full splendour of this beautiful waterfall. Walk down a few more steps to see the spectacular Jamison Valley.

Overlook the Jamison Valley

It's easy to explore the walking trails in the Jamison Valley as the tops of the cliffs can be reached from many of the streets in Katoomba, Leura and Wentworth Falls. Some of the best spots to enjoy the view are on the scenic railway and at Echo Point at Katoomba.

Spot native animals

Keep an eye out for native animals such as koalas high in the trees, graceful lyrebirds, rowdy sulphur crested cockatoos, kangaroos and wallabies hopping through the bush, green and golden bell frogs, and tiger quolls which are the largest living carnivore on mainland Australia.

Do I need a COVID-19 vaccine to join an Intrepid trip in the Blue Mountains?

Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travellers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises). However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travellers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

How to get to the Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are a 90 minute drive from Sydney or you can travel there by train in two hours.

Public buses operate from Katoomba to Echo Point and there is a hop-on-hop-off Blue Mountains Explorer Bus which runs from Katoomba Station on continuous circuit around the major attractions. NSW TrainLink Intercity services stop at most Blue Mountains stations.
