Travel in the off-season to see Europe in a new light
Picture this: you've just entered the Uffizi in Florence without a wait, you take a surprisingly crowd-free photo at Park Güell in Barcelona, and the bakery in Lisbon has more pastéis de nata available than you can eat in a sitting. No, it's not a fantasy; it's Europe in January. While you may not have warm days and blue skies like in the summertime, visiting Europe in the quiet off-season has some major perks of its own...think all of the charm and culture and none of the pushing and shoving.

This tour was great. Our weather was a bit blizzardy, but seemed to clear up at the right times to still see all of the amazing sites Iceland has to offer. Be sure to budget more than you think you'll need to for food here. Iceland was more expensive than I expected.

This tour was just fantastic and our group leader Stefan topped it off! The combination of a small group and an enthusiastic, knowledgeable tour guide made for the perfect group tour. And Iceland itself is even more magical than I could have imagined.

Overall the trip was great and the things we saw were magnificent. However, we missed out on four of the included activities due to poor weather. Understandably Intrepid cannot predict the weather however on one occasion the bad weather meant we arrived early to one of the hotels around 11am and didn’t have anything to do until an included dinner at the hotel at 7pm. Due to the secluded area of the hotel we sat around for hours on end with nothing to do. I feel as if there needs to be a plan B for these situations to avoid this. The itinerary also suggests there will be occasions for aurora spotting in the evenings/nights. We returned to Reykjavík on day 4 and had a free evening with good weather - it would have been nice to be able to drive a little out of town to try and spot them however this was not offered.

We recently participated in a Premiem trip of Iceland. Fascinating country and Intrepid do a great job of organizing every detail of the trip, building and excellent itinerary and our guide was knowledgeable, helpful and very professional. Transportation and accommodations were very good and we really enjoyed our experience.
