Albany Regional Airport is 11 kilometres from downtown Albany. If you prefer to travel by road, the bus trip from Perth to Albany takes just under 7 hours.

Driving from Perth is slightly quicker and takes four to five hours, depending on traffic and how many times you stop.

A hire car is your best option for getting around Albany. Public bus service and taxis are also available.

Any time of year is an excellent time to visit Albany, as you'll find pleasant weather throughout most of the year.

Summer is hot and perfect for swimming. Spring and Autumn are cooler, and the winter months are ideal for walking in the national park.

Albany is a laid-back destination so pack casual clothes such as activewear for enjoying the national park, casual dresses, jeans, shorts and t-shirts. A pair of swimmers plus sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are a must in summer. A jacket or sweater is always a good idea, just in case.

The Minang/Menang Noongar peoples were recognised as the traditional owners of Albany as part of an Aboriginal Accord (signed in 2003) that committed to reconciling the Indigenous community with the non-Indigenous community.

This accord promises to educate around the loss and devastation suffered by the Aboriginal community at the hands of the first European settlers to the area, as well as recognise the spiritual and cultural connection the Minang/Menang Noongar peoples have to both land and sea.
