Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. By participating, you agree to be bound by and comply with these Terms and Conditions.
Promoter
The promoter is Intrepid Travel Pty Ltd (ABN 35 007 172 456) of Level 7, 567 Collins Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Promoter).
Competition Period
The Competition commences at 12:01am AEDT on 16 February 2026 and ends at 11:59pm on 15 March 2026 (Competition Period). No entry details submitted after this time will be accepted.
Entry Eligibility
All entrants must be Australian residents aged 55 years or older at the time of entry and excludes employees of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary company and their immediate families, anyone connected professionally with the prize selection, or any person where entering this competition breaches any law or regulation of the jurisdiction in which they are resident. In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to claim the prize. The Promoter may request proof of age, identity, residency, or any other eligibility requirements. Failure to provide satisfactory evidence may result in disqualification.
Entry Instructions
This is a game of skill and to enter, individuals must complete the following entry mechanics during the Competition Period:
- The entrant must be 55 years of age or older at the time of entry.
- Entries may be submitted via the Promoter’s official Competition page in one of the following formats:
- written format (max 500 words); or
- video format (max 60 seconds duration).
- We encourage you to choose the format that best allows you to showcase your personality and creativity. Please note that videos will be judged on the creativity of the content and the ability to meet the Selection Criteria rather than the professional quality of the filming or editing equipment.
- Entries must be submitted by the entrant. However, the entrant may get assistance in putting their entry together (eg. assistance with filming).
- To receive the Prize, the Prize Winner must agree to participate in and assist the Promoter with creating promotional material during their ‘gap year’ experience (Content) including:
- being available for up to 10 ANZ media interviews upon winning the Prize and upon completion of the Prize trips. The Prize Winner will be supported by the Promoter’s ANZ PR team and receive briefings for all interviews.
- being profiled in two (2) Intrepid Travel blog articles on The Good Times (one upon winning the Prize, one upon completion of the Prize) which will be written by an employee of the Promoter via interview with the Prize Winner.
- providing the Promoter with access to a selection of raw video clips captured by the Prize Winner during the Prize trips that can be used across the Promoter’s social channels. The Promoter’s social team will produce up to a total of x6 videos using the provided content, to be shared across their social channels at the Promoter’s discretion.
- The Prize Winner agrees to grant the Promoter a non‑exclusive, a worldwide, perpetual, royalty‑free, irrevocable licence, including the right to sublicense, to use, reproduce, edit, adapt, publish and communicate the Content for any marketing or promotional purpose in the Promoter’s discretion.
- Incomplete or indecipherable entries will be deemed invalid. Entries automatically generated by computer, completed by third parties in bulk, or that have been altered, reconstructed or tampered with will be rejected. Entrants may only enter the competition once.
Licence
- By submitting an entry, the entrant grants the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and worldwide licence to use, reproduce, edit, adapt, publish, and communicate the entrant’s submission and to use, reproduce, publish and communicate the entrant’s name, image, voice and likeness contained in or associated with the submission, for any purpose in connection with the Golden Gap Year Competition, including promotional, marketing and publicity purposes.
- This licence includes a right to sub-licence the entrant’s submission to third parties, including but not limited to media outlets, PR agencies, and travel partners, for the purpose of publicity and news reporting related to the Golden Gap Year Competition.
- The entrant acknowledges that their submission may be used in any format and through any channel (including social media and television) without further notice or compensation. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for any third-party use of the submission beyond its reasonable control.
- To the extent permitted by law, each entrant unconditionally and irrevocably consents to any act or omission that would otherwise infringe their moral rights, including any right of attribution or integrity, in the entrant’s submission under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).
- Each entrant warrants that their submission is their own original work and does not infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of any third party. The entrant agrees to indemnify the Promoter against any loss or damage resulting from a breach of this warranty.
Selection Criteria
This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in determining the winner.
Entries will be judged individually and the Prize Winner will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by the Promoter on the below criteria:
- Originality and creativity
- Entertainment value
- Embodies the spirit of a ‘Golden Gap Year’
As part of the shortlisting, entrants may be required to take part in a phone screening with a member of the Promoter’s PR team. If two or more entries are tied, the entry with the highest score in the Originality category will be deemed the winner. The judges’ decision is final.
Prize
The Prize Winner will receive:
- A ‘Golden Gap Year’ of travel over a period of up to 12 months, with a total prize value of up to AUD $125,000 booked via the Promoter’s sales team, comprising:
- up to AUD $100,000 of this total prize value to be used on Intrepid Travel small group adventures, excluding Polar, Short Break Adventures, Urban Adventures, Expeditions, Tailor Made Travel or Festival trips; and
- up to $25,000 of the total prize value redeemable on economy domestic and international flights that are booked through the Promoter’s sales team,(together, the Prize).
Prize terms and conditions
This Prize is subject to the below terms and conditions, in addition to our Booking Conditions in force from time to time which can be found at: https://www.intrepidtravel.com/booking-intrepid/booking-conditions:
- The Prize must be redeemed against a new booking at least 3 months in advance of departure.
- The following black out period applies to travel: 15 Dec 2026 - 14 Jan 2027 & 15 Dec 2027 - 14 Jan 2028.
- The Prize Winner will be required to complete a minimum of three trips per quarter, being a minimum of 12 trips across the period 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027.
- Any unused portion of the Prize value not redeemed by 31 December 2027 will be forfeited and cannot be refunded, carried forward, or redeemed for cash.
- The Prize Winner must contact Intrepid Travel directly to book the Prize and quote the Prize Winner promo code advised at time of winning. It is the responsibility of the Prize Winner to book and travel by the required date.
- The Prize Winner will be required to agree to the current Booking Conditions at the time of booking including any applicable policies or waivers that are in place at the time.
- Any request to change to a different Intrepid Travel trip is at the discretion of Intrepid Travel and is not guaranteed.
- The Prize is strictly non-transferable to another person nor is it redeemable for cash.
- The Prize is subject to availability at time of booking. A minimum of 4 travellers must be confirmed on the Intrepid trip for the prize winner booking to be confirmed on their requested date. The Promoter reserves the right to replace the Prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter's control makes it necessary to do so.
- The Prize Winner is responsible for ensuring that they have valid passports, and any required visas, vaccinations, travel insurance and other travel documentation.
- The Prize does not include pre-or post-accommodation, meals, domestic transfers, travel insurance, single supplement payment, activities or local payments/kittys not covered by the itinerary.
- If the Prize winner cannot claim the Prize bound by these terms and conditions, the Prize winner must forfeit the full prize.
Prize Selection Date
There will be one (1) winner determined in respect of this promotion (Prize Winner).
Judging will take place at 10am AEDT on 30 March 2026 at Level 7, 567 Collins Street, Melbourne, 3000 by a panel appointed by the Promoter based on the Selection Criteria (Prize Selection Date).
The Prize Winner will be notified in writing by email submitted at the time of entry.
The Promoter will make reasonable efforts to identify and locate the Prize Winner. At the conclusion of 14 days, if no response is received by the Promoter, we will deem the Prize as unclaimed and an unclaimed Prize selection will be determined on 16 April 2026. The Prize Winner from the reselection will be notified by email and similarly given 14 days to claim the prize. If by 30 April 2026 the Prize is still unclaimed, this Prize will be forfeited.
Collection and use of your personal information
Personal Information including the entrant’s name, address, telephone number and email will be collected and used for the purpose of conducting this Competition. This may require disclosure to third parties, including the Promoter’s agents or third-party service providers, for the purpose of conducting the Competition.

Jurisdiction
The promotion shall be governed by the laws in place in Victoria, Australia.
General
The Promoter and its affiliates reserve the right to amend or withdraw the prize selection and any of the prizes in the event of any unforeseen circumstances outside their reasonable control. Prizes are subject to availability. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value.
Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the Prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
