Why you'll love this trip
  • India is bursting with colour, alive with people, dripping with the powerful smells of spice and incense. Immerse yourself with the sights and smells as you walk through the markets and bazaars.
  • Nothing compares to seeing the Taj Mahal it in person in the glowing morning light. It will definitely make sense why this 17th century masterpiece has attracted worldwide acclaim.
  • Explore through the depths of the Ranthambhore National Park – it’s like the Jungle Book has been brought to life! Keep your eyes peeled for gazelle, antelopes and the stealthy Bengal tiger.
  • Discover the traditional and vibrant city of Jaipur, full of colourful ornate buildings, and understand why its known as the Pink City.
  • Experience a special stay in a 17th-century palace in Alsisar – with its grand courtyards and colourful arcades, you (and your kids!) will feel like royalty.

Is this trip right for you?
  • This trip involves some long bus and train rides, which can be tiresome but offer a quintessential experience of the Indian landscape and people.
  • Sleeper trains are clean and air-conditioned and a great way to travel long distances while still getting maximum time in each place. Beds are padded berths with sheets, pillow and blanket provided (although some families prefer to bring their own sleeping sheet).
  • We visit a number of temples on this trip, which requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and pants/skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.

We have enjoyed a great family adventure in India. We travelled with our 2 daughters (aged 13&16). We all thoroughly enjoyed our time in India. Our group leader (Karni) was fantastic and he made the trip very special. We were also lucky to have a great group to travel with and have many fond memories to take home.

the family/India trip was the best experience for both novice and long-running travelers. The trip was well designed and delivered what we wanted to see and experience. The Leader was able to engage each traveler on an individual level and as a whole. The group dynamics were friendly and comfortable, especially for the teenagers.

An amazing trip around north of India, starting with the markets, the fantastic cities, not to mention the Taj Mahal, the stay at the palace in Alsisar; and that chai in the middle of the desert.....what a way to end the trip. And finally a big thank you to our top guide Gajraj for making this trip amazing.

Cannot recommend Intrepid enough! Great organization, value and effort to ensure we had the trip of our lifetime! Loads of different activities included every day for everyone. We were very lucky with our group and tour leader Gajraj. His knowledge, flexibility and attention made the trip effortless for us! Really liked the different hotels included in the itinerary and that they had a pool for the kids to cool down in the height of the hot afternoons. We even got updgraded to suites in Alsisar, which made the already special stay amazing! My daughter cannot wait to go back to India again!
