Launceston Tours & Holidays

Launceston is Tasmania’s second-largest city and the gateway to the Tamar Valley

A city where historic streetscapes and century-old parks and gardens sit beside revitalized areas such as the Launceston Seaport with its restaurants and cafes. A boardwalk links the Seaport to Inveresk where you can visit one of Australia’s best regional galleries, the Queen Victoria Museum. It's the perfect base for exploring the cool-climate vineyards of the Tamar Valley, national parks such as Narawntapu (known for wildlife spotting) and Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair.

A fabulous trip around a beautiful , diverse island. We saw and did so much. Stunning landscape, mountains, beaches, rain forests. A very special, unique part of the world. Great leader, Steve.

Tasmanian Explorer

The Tasmanian Explorer exceeded expectations with stunning coastlines, beautiful national parks, quaint villages and modern cities. Our group leader Anthony was born in Rosebery, raised in Hobart, and has worked all over Tasmania. His ability to weave personal anecdotes, stories, music, and surprises into the itinerary was magical. Absolutely outstanding. As usual we had a fun group of well-traveled fellow travelers. The island under down under definitely didn’t disappoint.

Intrepid's Highlights of Tasmania Tour was fantastic! Our guide, Hadyn, was professional, personable, and competent, sharing his extensive knowledge of and passion for his homeland. The tour itinerary offered a wide range of experiences in a variety of ecosystems, and accommodated different ability levels. I highly recommend this excellent tour!

Beautiful trip with a fun group! The trip does involve a lot of driving. Those wanting a more relaxed trip might consider a trip focused on a specific region like Hobart and the east coast.
