Cape Town to Vic Falls

We had a fantastic trip with Erellah, Wilson, and John from Cape Town to Vic Falls! The crew made sure we were well looked after, made us feel comfortable and safe at all times, educated us about local communities, plants, animals, and many things about Africa. We felt we could always ask as many questions as we wanted and felt at home! We highly recommend Intrepid for Africa or other trips!

I did Cape Town to Vic Falls in Sept, which was the perfect time for weather and animals. If you are lucky to have Erellah as your tour leader, Wilson as your chef, and John as your driver, then you are going to have an incredible time.

Cape Town to Vic Falls

This trip was a trip of a lifetime! Although mostly in Namibia, The natural beauty of Sossusvlei, Spitkoppe, Okavango Delta and Etosha were beyond! In terms of advice - Patience is key :) Started off FREEZING (Don't underestimate!), long HOT dusty days in the bus particularly if your on the sun side (Bring a battery operated fan - lifesaver!), The tents are awesome, thick canvas ones you can stand in. Bring gloves for the metal clips! Its not a fast paced trip in terms of activities - Bring a book, music, games. The food was really good (I'm a vegetarian), but leave your good coffee expectations at home! Our amazing chef Ken catered for those with meal specifics. We had a full bus with various ages and our whole group were absolutely amazing!! Book a few days extra in Cape Town. Also, don't over stress about the storage capacity for packing, there is a fair amount of room. We didn't need USD until Botswana & Zim, heaps of safe ATMS to use, so all good. I would consider looking at other accommodation options whilst in Swakopmund if you want a little treat for the 3 days. Highlights included: Sleeping on the rock at Spitkoppe, Helicopter ride in Okavango, Quad biking in Swakopmund, All the herds in Etosha and hippos at Chobe. I could write a novel about our adventures, but just book the trip and see for yourself!! Shout out to our amazing crew Zack, Ben & Ken - Absolute legends!

Cape Town to Vic Falls

Charanjit · Traveled August 2024
This is a great trip mainly in Namibia with short amounts of time in South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. So many highlights - wine tasting, sand dunes, kayaking with seals and whales, sleeping under the stars, canoeing in the Okavango and the animals in Chobe and Etosha. The food is excellent and the tents are spacious with comfy mattresses. Camping means you are outside all the time which is fantastic. The campsites are good with nice facilities and pools. The bush camp is great fun. First half of the trip is intense but then it slows down a bit with plenty of pool and bar time. Long travel days and the truck can get very hot. We left in August and nights can be cold so take a good sleeping bag.

Cape Town to Vic Falls

I recently completed the Cape Town to Victoria Falls trip with Intrepid, and it was an unforgettable experience. Be prepared – this journey is not for those looking for a relaxing vacation, but for true adventurers seeking to immerse themselves in rural Africa. The trip is physically demanding, especially given the rugged terrain, long drives, and camping in remote areas. But the rewards are immense. From breathtaking safaris in Botswana and Namibia to the awe-inspiring beauty of Victoria Falls, every moment felt like an authentic exploration of Africa's natural wonders. The environmental conditions can be tough at times, but the satisfaction of conquering those challenges makes it all the more worthwhile. If you're after adventure, connection with nature, and an off-the-beaten-path experience, this trip is for you. Highly recommended for those with a sense of adventure!
