Slow down in Asakusa

Trade Tokyo’s skyscrapers for lanterns and temple bells in Asakusa, the city’s historic heart. Anchored by the 1400-year-old Senso-Ji Temple, the area is filled with Nakamise Street’s sweet treats, craft stalls, rickshaw rides and strolls along the Sumida River. When the sun sets, Hoppy Street spills over with lively outdoor bars. It’s traditional Tokyo – vibrant, flavourful and full of character.

Cycle through the city

Get an intimate feel for Tokyo as you cycle along the same paths locals use to cut through the city and visit the famous landmarks along the way. Ride along the cherry-lined paths of Ueno Park, the upscale district of Ginza, Akihabara gadget town and cycle by Japan’s tallest building – the Tokyo Skytree. Tourists may flock to Tokyo daily, but how many have ridden a bike and explored it in a more local way?

Take a sushi making class

The best way to learn is hands-on, like taking a sushi-making class at the famous Tsukiji Outer Market where seafood is delivered fresh daily. Learn the art and history of Japanese cuisine as you learn how to make nigiri, hand-rolled or temari sushi then try out your own fresh creations for lunch – you can show off your new skills when you get home.
