Our average group size of 10 (usually 3 to 5 like-minded families) means we can use local transport, eat at family-run restaurants, and stay in traditional guesthouses and homestays. All relations are welcome – as long as you’re with a child aged between 5 and 17, you’re a family in our eyes.
Africa family holidays
Africa is full of firsts for the whole family
Where else can you canoe past hippos, hang out with a curious colony of meerkats or stay at a bush lodge where elephants drink from waterholes outside your room? And it’s not only wildlife encounters that’ll give you and the kids new stories to tell. You might also find yourselves learning Arabic calligraphy with artisans in the Atlas Mountains, cooking up a Swahili lunch with Maasai mamas in Tanzania or pitching in with village chores at a homestay in South Africa. No matter your age, our Africa trips make an adventurer out of everyone.

Why choose us
One of the hardest parts of family travel is keeping everyone happy, which is why our trips have loads of fun, educational activities for all ages. We keep travel time to a minimum, use hotels with pools where we can and include plenty of downtime so you and the kids can do your own thing. Your leader can also suggest activities based on your kids' hobbies or curriculum.
Our leaders are specially trained to run family adventures and they get along great with the kids. You can also relax knowing we use trusted local operators and run safety assessments on all our activities and transport to make sure they meet our strict safety policy. You'll all be well taken care of.
Making a difference has been part of our journey from day one. Through our non-profit, The Intrepid Foundation, we support organisations driving change around the world. And as a certified B Corp, we’re committed to doing good through the joy of travel.
