Designed by parents for kids, both big and small, our family trips are the kind you’ll reminisce about for years to come. Like the time you played soccer with Maasai warriors in Kenya, learned ancient martial arts with Buddhist monks in South Korea or slept in a traditional Navajo hogan in Monument Valley. With child-friendly accommodations and a local leader to handle the logistics, you can focus on making core memories. Your sense of adventure doesn't disappear when you have kids, so why should your family holiday options be limited?

If your little ones love fairytales, they’ll love waking up in the regal rooms of a 17th-century palace in Alsisar, Rajasthan. Nestled in a desert town full of legendary stories, this hotel oozes history and grandeur with manicured gardens, colourful courtyards and dazzling dining rooms you could spend hours exploring.
Bring the history textbooks to life as you wind your way through the archaeological site of Pompeii. See what life was like in this part of ancient Italy before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which froze time in place. Your local guide will walk you through restored villas and theatres, sharing some of the stories from long ago.
Learn how to play the taiko, an ancient instrument traditionally used to initiate ceremonies and call soldiers to battle. Made from large wooden barrels with animal skin stretched over both ends, it produces a thunderous sound that vibrates through your entire body. Watch the experts play before grabbing a pair of bachi wooden sticks and having a bash yourself.
Say ahoy! (or xin chao) to your Vietnamese captain and set sail around the karst-studded waters of Ha Long Bay. Cruise among hundreds of limestone islets, drop anchor to explore caves filled with stalactites and jump in for a swim with an epic backdrop. After enjoying a tasty dinner, head out to the deck where you’ll be wowed by a sky speckled with stars.
Who needs video games when you have an ancient city to explore? Angkor Thom, home to the iconic Angkor Wat, was once the largest pre-industrial city in history. Hop in a tuk-tuk with a guide from Driver Srey – a female-owned social enterprise empowering local women – and watch the ruins come alive. Then, wind through Ta Prohm’s maze-like passageways tangled with giant tree roots.
Saddle up for a sunset camel trek through the stunning Sahara. After journeying along the windswept dunes, you’ll be greeted by our local friends for a night in a desert camp. Enjoy a feast of traditional foods like tagine, couscous and pastilla before settling into the silence of the desert and gazing up at the Milky Way. If you’re lucky, you may see a shooting star (or 10)
Our average group size of 10 (usually 3 to 5 like-minded families) means we can use local transport, eat at family-run restaurants, and stay in traditional guesthouses and homestays. All relations are welcome – as long as you’re with a child aged between 5 and 17, you’re a family in our eyes.
We know one of the hardest parts of family travel is keeping the kids entertained, which is why our trips have loads of fun, educational activities for both children and grown-ups. We try to keep travel time to a minimum, use hotels with pools where we can and include plenty of free time to do your own thing. Your leader can also suggest activities based on your kids’ hobbies or curriculum.
Our leaders are specially trained to run family adventures and have a great rapport with the kids, so you'll all be well taken care of. You can also relax knowing we use – and regularly audit – trusted local operators and conduct safety assessments on all our activities to make sure they meet our comprehensive safety policy.
Making a difference has been part of our journey from day one. Through our non-profit, The Intrepid Foundation, we support organisations driving change around the world. And as a certified B Corp, we’re committed to doing good through the joy of travel.
