The Balkan peninsula is very hilly and mountainous, so many steps are a feature of the landscape. You will have to be able to easily lift your luggage and carry it up and down stairs and inclines, so packing light is recommended. You may want to consider bringing a backpack instead of a wheelie bag. Also, stone streets become very slippery when wet. Some people may find the Balkan's topography very demanding.
Summer temperatures can be extreme in many of the regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable, especially as many of the transport options and accommodations we use will not have air-conditioning. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
As accommodation on this trip is twin-share, single travellers will share a room with another traveller of the same sex. This trip is a great opportunity to get to know other like-minded people, so embrace it while you can. However, if you’d prefer not to share, a single room supplement is available at an additional charge. Please ask your travel consultant for more details. Hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together. Please also note that in some cases bathroom facilities will be shared rather than en-suite, and many accommodations in this part of the world do not have air-conditioning.

This trip was very interesting we got to see a lot of places. Kotor and Ochrid definitely highlights! There is a lot of moving so not for those looking for a rest. No real early mornings though which was great!

We are happy with Intrepid and have travelled with them more than ten times. Their trips are good value for money and a nice group size. The hotels are reasonable considering the trip price. It would be difficult to copy their tours and book the travel and hotels for a cheaper price.
