Why you'll love this trip
  • The weird and wonderful world of Cappadocia might be the most unusual place in Turkey. Learn all about its fairy chimneys and sprawling rock formations from your expert local leaders.
  • Cappadocia’s wonder is beautiful at all angles, but none more so than from on top. Consider the chance for a sunrise hot air-balloon ride, giving you the ultimate view of this awesome landscape.
  • Get a dose of good old-fashioned Turkish hospitality, having dinner with a local family and enjoying some home-cooked delights.
  • Exploring the underground cities of Derinkuyu and Kaymakli is mind-blowing – head four levels underground and discover where thousands of people used to live.
  • The thriving metropolis of Istanbul is where East literally meets West. With the option to extend your stay here, you’ve got the power to continue your Turkish escapade right away!
  • By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Intrepid Foundation partner, CYDD (Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği). Donations help them provide scholarships and educational programs for economically disadvantaged youth in Turkey.

Is this trip right for you?
  • Lots of time allocated for optional activities means freedom and flexibility, but it does require a level of independence. Only are few meals are included, so mostly you'll find your own (with plenty of suggestions from your leader of course) – a great way to mingle with locals and discover unexpected delights! There's plenty of free time on this trip, which means you're able to take advantage of many optional activities; however, you will need some extra cash to do so.
  • Unlike most other Intrepid trips, this trip starts early in the morning, instead of in the afternoon. Consider arriving a few days earlier to make the most of your time in Antalya. If you wish to spend more time in Antalya, we'll be happy to book additional accommodation (subject to availability).
  • Some of the sites visited involve walking on rocky and/or steep hillsides. Please ensure you bring sturdy walking shoes and comfortable clothes. To make the most of the trip, it's best if you have at least a moderate level of fitness.
  • It can get quite cool in these destinations, particularly from October to April, so don't forget to pack some extra layers.
  • There are a couple of long bus rides. The good news is, public buses in Turkey are pretty cool and comfortable.

Our experience in Cappadocia was incredible, it is a magical place. Unfortunately the entire first day is on a bus (12 hours), which was very exhausting and boring. The last day doesn’t include official tour time in Istanbul, so the ‘5-Day Cappadocia tour’ is really only 3 days plus 2 very long bus-rides. Most activities require additional cost, so became very expensive. Overall it was a great experience!

A lovely trip and amazing way to see Cappadocia. We joined in with a tour from Istanbul but our host and the people were really welcoming. Taha (host) was amazing. Would recommend!!

The trip was incredible! I would definitely recommend going! The location is stunning, and the hot air balloon is a once in a lifetime experience, the underground city was incredible to see, but above all that our tour guide ĺlter was amazing!

This tour is a great way to spend time in Cappadocia and do the sunrise balloons. Be aware that you are joining onto an already established Intrepid trip however it is still a good way to meet new people.

The Real Turkey tour, was a great experience to learn the intricate culture and history of Turkiye. The tour guide Ziver provided an exceptional service and was a very welcoming individual to talk to on the tour, his knowledge on the sites was great and that too made the tour great.
