Why you'll love this trip
  • You’ll never forget your first glimpse of The Treasury in Petra. Spend a day taking in the majesty and mystery of this unforgettable place on a guided tour then enjoy free time to explore.
  • Experience the unique sensation of floating in the super-salty waters of the Dead Sea, then cover yourself in the mineral-rich mud for a spa treatment like no other.
  • Be welcomed into a local home in Petra where you’ll chat to your friendly family hosts over a traditional meal and learn what life is like in this popular spot.
  • Meet Bedouin locals, learn about their ways, and sleep under the stars in a desert camp in the far-out destination of Wadi Rum.
  • Relax in the seaside town of Aqaba on the shores of the Red Sea relax around its untouched reefs and transparent waters – a spectacular spot for snorkelling.

Is this trip right for you?
  • Some of the best scenery in Petra and Wadi Rum is found on hikes. While this trip doesn't require a high level of fitness, it’s essential to be at least moderately fit if you want to participate in all activities.
  • At most of the historical sites in Jordan there is no shade. Bring a hat, sun protection, and sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. Winters can get quite cool, so if you're visiting at this time, don't forget to pack some warmer layers too.
  • In Wadi Rum we stay in a permanent tented camp with shared bathroom facilities. While the desert may be very hot during the day, it will still be cold at night and warm clothes are highly recommended when travelling outside of the summer months.
  • Ramadan is an annual month-long festival, during which travel can be a rewarding cultural experience, however some regular services may not be available during the day, such as restaurants or cafes, and occasionally travel can be disrupted by events. Your leader will adjust the itinerary accordingly, but please consider this when selecting your travel dates. You'll find dates and further information in the 'Climate and seasonal information' section of the Essential Trip Information.

We had a fabulous time in Jordan, it was a shame we had to come back to work; the things we saw exceeded our expectations by a lot. The Jordanian people were very hospitable and welcoming and we felt very well looked after by our tour leader- we saw and learned so much.

I knew very little about Jordan prior to my intrepid tour, and I was blown away with the beautiful sights and all the history. The tour was excellently organised and our tour guide, Mohammed, made the trip fun, interesting and extremely informative! I recommend this trip highly.

This Jordan trip was amazing and I highly recommend it to everyone! It's a great trip for solo female travellers and you won't feel unsafe. Jordan is an incredible country with breath-taking landscapes, diverse and rich culture, incredible food, the cutest cats and the nicest people! this tour is great for first timers to Jordan as it ticks off all the main attractions at a great pace. If possible, try and get Mohammed Assaf as your tour leader as his knowledge, kindness and love for Jordan made the tour even better! You'll have a great time with him as your guide and you'll end your trip with extensive knowledge on Jordan and the Middle East.

Mohammed is an excellent tour guide and I will be recommending him (and Intrepid) to my family and friends! His knowledge is impressive and his passion for sharing the history and culture of Jordan makes the trip so enjoyable. He was patient, funny, well spoken and attentive to our needs which made the whole week run very smoothly with no issues at all! He is the best tour guide I've had anywhere in the world (and I've done a lot of travel), and he is an abssolute asset to Intrepid!
