Come for the endless turquoise, stay for the history and Dalmatian charm. Croatia is cruising at its finest.

With balmy beaches surrounded by idyllic historic cities, crystal clear waters and melt-in-your-mouth seafood, Croatia’s Adriatic coast will fulfil all your beach holiday fantasies. But with more than 1000 sun-drenched islands strewn across 1800 km (1100 mi) of coast, Croatia is more than just sun and sea. Find rugged limestone landscapes and sprawling waterfall-filled national parks that will take your breath away. Get lost exploring historic walled towns (Dubrovnik and Korcula), hidden bars tucked into 2000-year-old Roman ruins or lavender fields and vineyards in Hvar. Croatia may first tempt you with its beaches, but its picturesque towns, stunning national parks and mouth-watering cuisine will have you returning again and again.

Highlights of Croatia

Walk Dubrovnik’s city walls

Dubrovnik’s iconic city walls have protected the city since the Middle Ages. These days, they are the best way to see the city, offering sweeping views of its monasteries, terracotta roofs, old port and Adriatic Sea. Wander the World Heritage-listed walls and Old Town – past forts, bastions and towers; if the sights look familiar, it’s because several films and television shows have filmed here, including Game of Thrones.

Wander by waterfalls in Krka National Park

The coast may be its main drawcard, but Croatia is also home to some pretty spectacular national parks. Located on the Krka River about an hour from the coast, Krka National Park is known for its cascading waterfalls, winding hiking trails and lush forest. For a less strenuous option, tour the park by boat, stopping by secluded emerald pools.

Hvar lavendar farm wine and food served in Croatia

Taste local wine around Hvar

Party-goers descend on Hvar during the summer months to revel in its party atmosphere, but it’s still possible to venture off the beaten track in this well-travelled hotspot. Fertile soil and year-round sun (local claim it as the ‘sunniest spot in Europe’) have created an agricultural paradise. Head inland to visit fruit orchards and olive groves, sample wine at local vineyards and stroll across picturesque farmlands.

Excursions and experiences

We believe the best moments on the road are those where you get to mingle with the locals, learn a little about the culture and history of each destination and make discoveries you won't find in any guide book. We call these real life experiences, the kind you can only get with a local leader showing you the way. Here are just a few of the experiences you'll share in Croatia.

  • Visit a local beekeeper in Hvar to sample honey and chat about time-old techniques, before going for a walk through nearby farmland.
  • To truly get a taste of enigmatic Split, you need someone to show you around – a local someone. Wander the buzzy streets of the Old Town – the remains of Diocletian’s 2200-year-old palace – with a local guide.
  • Nature lovers rejoice! Take in incredible scenery and biodiversity as you wander by the cascading waterfalls in Krka National Park.

Meet our fleet

M/S Aurora

The M/S Aurora is ideally suited to exploring the Dalmatian Coast and has all you need for a memorable small-ship cruise holiday. A large top deck features sun loungers, a jacuzzi and plenty of room to spread out. The ship has an indoor dining room, an onboard bar, and a focus on locally sourced produce. A smaller group size means you get a more personal level of service and the ship can anchor in smaller ports, avoiding the other larger tour boats and crowds of tourists.
