Do you need a visa to travel to Turkey?
You may need a visa to enter Turkey depending on where you’re from. Foreign nationals from several countries including Australia, Canada, South Africa, the USA will need an e-visa. An e-visa allows you to stay in Turkey for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
You can apply for an e-visa online – the process is quick and easy, and will cost between US $60 and $90 depending on your nationality. After applying for an e-visa, you should allow at least two weeks before departure for it to be issued.
Travellers from many countries – including New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland – don’t require a visa for stays of less than three months if the trip is for tourism or business purposes.
To see the complete list of countries that do and do not require a visa to travel to Turkey, please visit the official Turkish government website.
Visa and entry requirements can change anytime, so we recommend all travellers check with their local consulate or embassy as this information may change. The same goes for visa costs, which can also change at any time – and with little notice – depending on the political climate of the region.
