Statement on the Middle East
Intrepid Travel statement on the Middle East
4 MARCH 2026
Intrepid Travel has cancelled departures in Egypt, Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia up to and inclusive of 31 March 2026. This decision is in line with major government travel advisories, which have raised their warnings based on military activity in the region.
The decision to cancel itineraries has not been made lightly, but our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our customers, tour leaders and teams. All customers and team members are safe and accounted for.
Intrepid has a large operational footprint across the Middle East, including its own offices and teams in Jordan and Egypt.
Zina Bencheikh, Intrepid Travel’s Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa, says:
“We are deeply saddened to see the recent escalation of violence that has once again sent the Middle East into a state of fragility and uncertainty. We stand with our local teams and partners whose livelihoods rely on safe travel in the Middle East, and who will feel the impact more than most.
While we will always follow official guidance, we continue to believe in travel as a force for good. Our trips in all other destinations are operating as scheduled. In destinations unaffected by this conflict, we encourage people to continue travelling responsibly, supporting people and communities.
Travel reminds us of the power of compassion and shared humanity. It shows us that the ties between people are more enduring than the forces that seek to divide them. Connection is stronger than conflict.”
