Why you'll love this trip

  • Be surprised by the striking dichotomy of Baku’s ancient walled city and bold modern skyline, then head to Absheron to discover its ancient tradition of fire worship.
  • Experience the magnificent mountain scenery of the Georgian Military Highway, then visit the 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church in the heart of the Caucasus Mountains (and, if the weather’s right, catch a glimpse of Mt Kazbegi).
  • Experience warm Georgian hospitality as you visit a traditional wine producer where the ancient, UNESCO-listed qvevri method is still used, and learn how to make khinkali (Georgian dumplings) in a family-run hotel.
  • Walk through history, from Garni Temple, the only surviving Greco-Roman-style pagan temple in Armenia, to Geghard monastery, representative of Armenia’s Christian medieval past.
  • Take part in the conservation effort of a local NGO dedicated to preserving Armenian art through a rug-weaving workshop and learn about Armenia Lavish baking using century old method.
