Why you'll love this trip
- Explore Rio Claro – a nature reserve known for its clear rivers, tropical rainforest terrain and waterfalls. Swim in the river, hike the winding trail along limestone cliffs and maybe zoom downstream between the canyon walls on a zip-line.
- Play a game of Tejo with the locals in a Tejo Hall – Colombia's national sport and a popular pastime in Bogota (think bocce with gunpowder).
- Climb up 700 stairs to the top of El Penol – a 200 m (656 ft) granitic rock, that used to be worshipped by the indigenous Tahami peoples. The panoramic views are worth the sweat!
- Visit Honda – once a river port, the town is now known as the ‘City of Bridges’ due to its location on the Magdalena River. Learn why the 40-plus bridges that connect different parts of town are a key part of local history.
- Make Medellin your own with plenty of free time – maybe wander through the Botanical Garden, visit the Museo de Antioquia or explore the street art in Comuna 13.

Travel and visa requirements
The style of accommodation indicated in the day-to-day itinerary is a guideline only and may change. On some occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our preferred accommodation. In these cases, we will use a similar standard of accommodation.
Throughout the trip, we request that our properties prepare rooms in time for our arrival, especially if we're arriving prior to normal check-in time. However, this isn't always possible which means we won't be able to check-in immediately on arrival at some hotels. Instead, we can store our luggage and explore our new destination or on some trips, have use of shared day rooms until all rooms are available.

Instructions
Intrepid can assist with pre-booking an arrival transfer from the airport - enquire with your agent. Please advise your flight arrival details at least 14 days prior to your departure.
If you have a confirmed arrival transfer, you’ll be met after exiting customs by a transfer representative holding an Intrepid sign. Please ask them who they’re picking up to confirm you’ve met the correct transfer representative. In case of flight cancellations, changes, or unforeseen delays, please contact our local office on the number in the ‘Problems and emergency contact information’ section.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the airport to your hotel. We recommend exiting through door 5 on the first floor (international arrivals exit) where you will find yellow taxis and white taxis queued. Both are fine to use, but the white taxis normally cost twice as much. The price should be agreed before entering the vehicle and will be approximately COP 25 (USD9) to COP 35 (USD13). Depending on traffic, the journey will take 30 to 40 minutes.
