Why you'll love this trip
  • Enjoy guided Northern Lights viewing opportunities, at locations strategically chosen by your local leader near your accommodation. (Weather dependent)
  • Take part in a leader-led Snowshoe Hike in the stunning Denali State Park.
  • Stay at Sheep Mountain, which is virtually untouched by tourists, making it perfect for spotting the Northern Lights thanks to no light pollution.
  • Get up close and personal with the mesmerizing Matanuska Glacier on a guided tour.
  • Soak in Chena’s natural hot springs for some well-earned relaxation time.
  • By travelling on this trip, you’ll learn about our Intrepid Foundation partner, the Grand Canyon Conservancy. Donations help them protect Grand Canyon National Park and support trail restoration, conservation of native plants and wildlife, and educational programs. Intrepid will double the impact by dollar-matching all post-trip donations made to The Intrepid Foundation.

Is this trip right for you?
  • This is a winter trip so you must have the appropriate footwear and clothing. If you don't want to take all your winter gear consider buying some in Anchorage.
  • During winter in Alaska many of the restaurants and stores close for the season, therefore our choices in restaurants will be limited.
  • Packed lunches will be simple, so if you think you will get hungry between meals, perhaps bring some of your own snacks along on day trips too.
  • Weather is unpredictable in Alaska, especially in the winter. Although the first snow typically occurs in October, there is sometimes very little snow until late November in some regions. Depending on weather, we may need to make itinerary changes to keep the group safe and well at all times. If this occurs, we will do our best to find comparable activities and experiences.

Great one week expedition that shows off some of Alaska’s best aspects. Well worth the time and money to go.

This was a great trip with a lot packed into the week, and good optional activities with the dog sledding and Denali NP flight. Although it can get pretty cold, it well worth it to experience the magic of Alaska in winter!

Amazing trip! Alaska was my second solo tour with Intrepid and met a great group of people to spend the week with. Our tour guide Joe was excellent as he worked through the itinerary for the week. Walking on the glacier and the sled dogs were definitely highlights of the week. We also got a great viewing of the Northern Lights thanks to our leader. Highly recommend this trip!

We had an amazing trip to Alaska which far exceeded our expectations. The scenery was breath taking, our guide was outstanding. We travelled in a very comfortable vehicle, although there was a lot of driving there were plenty of rest periods. The activities that were included were excellent, we would recommend Intrepid to other travelers.

Alaska's beautiful and it's awesome seeing it when it's all quiet and snow-covered. Itinerary hit up a bunch of good spots -- glacier walk was a definite highlight. Had a great guide and an equally great group of fellow travelers that made this a super fun experience. Bundle up and get out there.
