Visit one of Indonesia's vibrant tropical playgrounds.
Get the lowdown on Bali’s beautiful neighbour on an eight-day tropical escapade in Lombok. Spend time in rural communities, meet lots of locals and discover the fascinating Sasak culture. From the sandy shores of Sanur, the laidback vibes of Labuan Pandan and the idyllic Gili, you’ll be lazing beachside in no time on one of Indonesia’s most pristine islands. With all of the organising taken care of, just sit back, relax and revel in the crystal-clear waters of the Bali Sea, the array of fresh seafood on offer and the friendliness of the locals as they welcome you to their slice of paradise.
Stay on the often-overlooked east coast of Lombok with some time spent in Labuan Pandan, taking a snorkelling trip, and enjoying a secluded island lunch and sumptuous seafood barbecue dinner.
Support the island’s communities during your time in Senaru by embarking on a tour run by passionate local women who are developing skills in tourism.
Explore Lombok by visiting the Masbagik pottery village, Tetebatu and Senaru, which will all give you a true insight into local customs and culture – as well as the delicious local food – of the island.
The Gili Islands may just be some of the most stunning stretches of sand you’ve come across. Relax on the shores of Gili Air, taking the day at your own pace – swimming, snorkelling, eating and repeating.
Begin your island jaunt with a night in Sanur on Bali’s east coast. This beachside haven has all of the ingredients for a relaxing stay, so why not consider extending your time here before your Lombok adventure?
Part of travelling with Intrepid means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. That way you get the most out of your interactions with local people and environments. Lombok is more conservative than Bali, so it's best to dress conservatively while you're there, particularly in smaller towns and during village walks.
Walking in the villages of Tetebatu and Senaru is on relatively flat ground; however, the terrain between villages and in the hills can be steep and, at times, slippery or muddy. On our waterfall walk from Senaru you will need to walk through a running stream. Footwear with good grip that can get wet is ideal.
The snorkelling trip off the east coast of Lombok is a great chance to witness the sealife, but bear in mind you'll need to be a confident swimmer to partake in this activity.
Our accommodation on the east coast of Lombok is remote, and away from the main town. Our simple bungalows and beachside location allow a great chance to unwind and enjoy the slow pace in this slice of paradise.

Trip departures are unavailable.
There are currently no scheduled departures on our Discover Lombok trip. If you are interested in other trips in the region visit one of the links below.
1. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement excludes Days 2 & 5 (Guesthouse) where you will be in shared accommodation and is subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
2. This trip concludes on Gili Air. The closest departure flights operate from Bali (Ngurah Rai, DPS) Airport or Lombok International Airport. Due to a change in local regulations fast boats no longer travel directly from the Gili Islands to Lombok or Bali, and the only option is a slower public ferry. Public ferry tickets are not pre-bookable and operate on a ‘first come first serviced’ basis. For those travelling back to Bali a fast boat option is available, and pre-bookable through Intrepid. Please allow sufficient time for daily boat transfers and travelling time to meet your onward arrangements. We recommend onward flights that depart after 7pm from Bali or after 1pm from Lombok.
3. Please be advised that you’ll be required to take a test (RAT or PCR) depending on the number of your vaccination doses before taking the fast boat Bali to Lombok (no test required if you’ve received 3 doses that’s shown on your vaccination certificate). This is enacted starting from 17 Jul. Please find more details about this regulation at https://www.indonesia.travel/th/en/news/here-are-the-newest-regulations-.... The cost of the test will range from about 5 USD for a RAT test to about 20 USD for a PCR test. Your tour leader will help you organize the necessary test depending on your vaccination status. If you plan to return to Bali for your departure flight, you’ll also need to comply with this regulation.
