Why you'll love this trip
  • Spend the night in a Maasai village to learn about life from community elders, visit a widows’ community and maybe even learn to throw a spear.
  • Venture into the incredible Masai Mara National Reserve for a full-day game drive in an open-top 4WD, looking for lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and more.
  • An early morning game drive through Lake Nakuru National Park might be your best chance of seeing black and white rhinoceroses in the flesh.
  • Take a cooking class in a small village and learn some Kenyan recipes, then share your creations at a camp dinner under the stars.
  • You'll be in excellent hands for the duration of your trip, travelling with a crew of three experienced locals – a leader, driver and cook.
  • By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Intrepid Foundation partner, Patinaai Osim Community Care Organisation. Donations support their livelihood programs which help indigenous Maasai women identify alternative income-generating activities to support their families.

Is this trip right for you?
  • This is an overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in a purpose-built vehicle, visiting remote communities, setting up your own tent and getting the best possible views of the Big Five. While the trucks don’t have air conditioning, they do have drop-down windows, which let in the breeze and make it even easier to take spectacular snaps of the local wildlife. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie. For more info on this style of travel, see our Africa overland page:
  • In Loita Hills you will stay in a secure bush camp with basic facilities and cold showers. There is no Wi-Fi or upgrades available but the rewards of experiencing Maasai culture should more than make up for the lack of creature comforts.
  • As the early bird catches the worm, the early camper sights the animals. There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or beat the morning traffic on long travel days.

This was the trip of a lifetime. Timothy was an incredible leader with so much knowledge of everything Kenya! We were so lucky to have Jeremy as our chef who crafted the best meals and Jackson who got us to our destinations safely. I’ll remember this trip, the people, and the sights forever. Highly, highly recommend!

This trip gives the ultimate Kenya experience. I would do it over a thousand times- between the itinerary and activities, the incredible food that was never short, the cultural experiences, the awesome crew (Rita, Charles, Steve) and all the animals- I am leaving with nothing short of amazing memories and recommend this trip to anyone.

Incredible trip! From the wildlife to cultural experiences to camping to food, this trip far exceeded my expectations. It was my first safari and blew me away! Camping facilities also exceeded my expectations (read: showers & toilets, plus beautiful scenery)! All included facilities plus add on options were so much fun.

Really nice experience! The team was friendly and helpful for every kind of problem. The cook respected every kind of diet (vegetarian, allergic,…) and cooked always alternative options for these people. The food in general was really good. The whole trip was well organised and we had many nice experiences. We learned about the Kenyan culture, the nature and we saw many beautiful animals. The travel group with so many nice people made the experience even better! Thank you really much for this nice time.
