Why you'll love this trip
  • Experience the allure of Uluru from your Feature Stay hotel, offering modern amenities, fantastic service and stunning views of the Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
  • Taste the best of the outback during unique Exclusive Experiences, enjoying multicourse dinners under the stars and creative meals made with locally sourced, native ingredients.
  • Get to know the awe-inspiring landscapes of Kings Canyon as your local leader introduces you to a world of sandstone formations, rare plants and native wildlife.
  • Understand the connection between the landscapes and the Luritja and Pertame people during a cultural experience in Watarrka National Park.
  • Marvel at the Field of Lights, an outdoor art installation made up of more than 50,000 artificial lights, while canapes compliment this Exclusive Experience.
  • By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Intrepid Foundation partner, Greening Australia. Donations help them tackle Australia’s complex environmental challenges, restoring landscapes at scale – in ways that work for communities, economies and nature.

Is this trip right for you?
  • Temperatures in the Red Centre can be extreme. During the day the weather can be very hot (and the Australian sun is very strong) so please bring appropriate clothing, use sun protection and drink plenty of water. In the evenings temperatures really drop, so bring base layers and warm clothing.
  • On some days of the trip, you’ll spend several hours driving through very sparse areas of Australia. Sit back and enjoy landscapes that you would miss in any other form of travel. Think of it as a great way to get to know your fellow travellers. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie.
  • This trip includes walks and hikes around the major landmarks of this area. Please read the daily itinerary carefully for details. Walking is the best way to explore these stunning geological features in this otherwise flat landscape, so make sure you bring along comfortable, sturdy walking shoes.
  • Our leaders are the classic do-it-all Aussie – they know the best spots to watch the sunset, can drive you to your next destination, take you on a guided hike or even whip up dinner for the group on some trips. While they won’t always do all these jobs on every trip, be aware they will be juggling many things on your tour and may have less time to spend with you. They will always be working hard to ensure you and your group have a fantastic time exploring Australia.

This is an excellent trip, everything you would want to do and more packed into a full on 6 days of activity! Saw more than I ever would have done myself and our guide was so informative and made our trip extra special. Highlights were Kings Canyon hike and Dining Under the Desert Moon experience, the cultural experiences were pretty amazing too. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore this area.

Brilliant trip that includes everything you'd want to see and do in the Red Centre. Loved the First Nations inclusions and the Under the Desert Moon dinner was a highlight. Excellent leader - Graeme - hope future travellers are lucky enough to be accompanied by him!

Itinerary, accommodation and tour leader excellent. Intrepid administration does not meet the expectations of a Premium tour. Accommodation booking mistakes, food requests ignored, bus old, no personal touch.

A great way to experience the natural wonders and traditional cultures of the area. However the trip is clearly still suffering from new trip teething issues. Published itinerary unworkable, no airport transfer provided and travel was in an old, worn and cramped minibus driven by enthusiastic but relatively inexperienced guide.
