Fall in love with the untamed beauty of Alaska on this six-day walking and hiking trip that loops you inland from coastal Anchorage to the spectacular Denali National Park – home to the tallest mountain on the continent, Denali. Hike tundra trails that weave through wildflowers and maybe even spot some wildlife living among the landscape (is that a grizzly bear?). Walk across a massive glacier of ancient ice and choose your own hiking adventure with leader-led walks through the park. By the end of your trip, you’ll understand why, in the Indigenous Aleut language, Alaska means ‘The Great Land.’

This trip was incredible. Our guide Mike was amazing, and very fun to hang around. Our group of 11 was awesome! Our hikes were not too challenging but definitely not a cake walk. Got to view the peak of Denali from Curry Ridge hike which was incredible in the month of July. Truly got a taste of the Alaskan wilderness and culture while being outdoors. Spending time outdoors with other likeminded travelers from all over made the trip fun and enjoyable! Looking forward to coming back to explore rest of Alaska one day with Intrepid.

Enjoyed the hikes on the Walking Denali NP trip, from the Matanuska Glacier walk in Chugach SP, Bald Mountain Ridge trail at Hatcher Pass, Curry Ridge trail near Talkeetna, and Savage Alpine and Horseshoe Lake trails in Denali NP despite the road closure to Eielson. Learned a lot also about Alaska from our knowledgeable Intrepid leader. Recommend this trip for a nice introduction to the Alaskan outdoors!

The trip was a blast. We really like the itinerary and enjoyed all the treks along nice hiking trails. Our guide John (aka Jay) did a great job. I like his practical approach and leadership. We really enjoyed his stories and explanations. He did his best to match the expectations of a good, diverse, and large group (12 people). This was our seventh Intrepid trip and first in the USA with 100 % American travelers. We also appreciate the way Intrepid put together this trip considering all COVID restrictions. Overall, it was a nice experience and a good value for the money. Please consider to schedule a comfort option for this itinerary.
