Why you'll love this trip
  • Enjoy the guidance of a local expert as you temple-hop at the dazzling Angkor complex, one of Southeast Asia's most stunning sights and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Confront the sobering but important Khmer history with a visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21) and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek in Phnom Penh.
  • Stay with locals during a homestay in Chambok that puts you right in the heart of everyday life in Cambodia. Enjoy a village walk and waterfall visit, then join in for a local dinner and cultural performance.
  • Watch the sun set over Bokor Mountain on an evening cruise in Kampot – one of Cambodia's most attractive old towns.
  • Make the most of your free time with hiking, cycling and spa-day opportunities and see all the natural beauty that Cambodia has to offer.
  • By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Intrepid Foundation partner, Friends International. Donations help vulnerable youth in Southeast Asia build a brighter future with vocational training and employment readiness programs.

Is this trip right for you?
  • This adventure is made for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group of like-minded travellers. The itinerary has a mix of included activities and free time when your leader will offer suggestions. Please budget spending money for optional activities you want to take part in.
  • Accommodation is basic – a combination of simple hotels, guesthouses and a homestay. You'll be spending a night with a local family on this trip. While the homestay accommodation is shared, this is a great opportunity to connect with the local people (and enjoy delicious home-cooked meals!). • This trip involves a lot of public transport and some long days of driving so some patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment. Sit back, relax, watch the scenery go by and embrace travelling like a local.
  • You’ll visit a number of temples on this trip, and this requires a level of modesty. Be sure to bring clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.

The Cambodia Discovery trip has an excellent itinerary with a good balance of inclusive activities, food and free time. The guide we had, Ly, shared first hand experience and in-depth knowledge of the country’s history. My knowledge of Cambodia has grown dramatically thanks to Ly. I particularly liked the Homestay (which was not nervous about), but living like a local for a night really opened my eyes.

Fabulous introduction to Cambodia showcased extremely well by our leader Ly. Being able to visit Angkor Wat at sunrise, as well as other temples from 10th and 11th centuries, was a privilege. The trip is a good mixture of planned and free time to explore your personal interests. The visit to S21 and genocide museum can be an emotional one so take your tissues. This trip exposes the gracious and humble nature of the Cambodian people. A particular highlight for me was a visit to Banteay Srei "the pink temple" completed in the year 967, which was organised by our amazing leader. Highly recommend Cambodia Discovery!

Fabulous trip, seeing the real Cambodia. Our guide Chan Ly was fantastic - he was able to tell us so much about his country but also looked after us really well. The itinerary included a good mix of city, town and countryside - I especially loved the homestay and the village activities but the cities were great too and of course Angkor Wat and the other temples were the icing on the cake!

This Cambodia trip will take you to one of the most popular destinations on the planet as well as some really remote areas in the country. Starting and finishing in neighbouring countries gives a perspective on the beautiful and developing country.
