Why you'll love this trip
  • See the best of the Baltics in a week – soaking up centuries of history, getting a taste of the region’s hearty cuisine and meeting plenty of locals along the way.
  • Join a local guide to discover the best bits of Vilnius, from its legendary beginnings and UNESCO-listed Old Town to its tiny independent republic, Uzupis.
  • Discover the treasures of Riga – both historic and culinary – on a walking tour through the cobbled streets of the Old Town followed by a Latvian lunch at the lively Central Market.
  • Take a breath of pine-scented air during a relaxing stay on forest-covered Saaremaa, the largest island in Estonia, sharing a dinner of local favourites before snoozing the night away in a log cabin.
  • See some of the region’s finest art and stroll through manicured gardens at Tallinn’s Kadriorg Palace Art Museum, a grand baroque building built by Peter the Great.

Is this trip right for you?
  • We recommend packing light and smart for this trip as you'll be required to carry your own luggage between train and bus stations and hotels, which can include going up and down multiple flights of stairs, and across cobblestones.
  • This trip covers a lot in a week, so there are some long drives. However, all travel is in comfortable private vehicle or public bus, with one ferry ride. Please review the itinerary for details.

I just finished the Baltic Explorer and it was an excellent trip. Our tour leader, Gundega , was top notch. There was just enough structure to the tour, so you never felt on your own, but enough free time to do your own thing.

A relatively short trip providing valuable insights to the Baltic State's history, culture and architecture of the capitals with a very knowledgeable tour guide and specialist guides at several destinations. It combines significant travel through the country area, a visit to an historic country town and a night in a rural retreat. The tour provides a great overview and an excellent foundation for future travel and in-depth exploration by those that way inclined.

Fantastic tour with amazing locations packed with sights and history both recent and older. Relaxed pace but with plenty of flexibility and options to do extra if you want, and the tour leader Merina was great. All the cities have many attractions and powerful history, but are easy to get around - no problems using buses, trains or trams (Tallinn). I'd suggest add extra days at the start or finish if possible.

Highly recommend the Classic Baltics trip to anyone interested in this beautiful part of the world. A perfect introduction to three fascinating countries, and our leader (Aino) made it one of the most fun and relaxing weeks I’ve ever had on holiday!
