We never want to cancel a trip, but sometimes things happen.

As the world opens up, we're excited for you to get out there and see it. But we also recognise the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is still a risk and some things are out of both our control and yours.

We want your future travels to always be safe and, in the unfortunate event that your trip needs to be cancelled, we are committed to supporting you the best we can.

Cancelled trips

If you were booked on a trip that we had to cancel due to Force Majeure (e.g. due to the COVID-19 pandemic), we have automatically applied your credit of monies paid to Intrepid, as per our Booking Conditions at the time you booked your trip.*

* Please note different conditions apply for Polar, Adventure Cruises and select Tailor-Made trips. Please see our Flexible Bookings for further details. Credit amounts exclude additional flights or insurance as they have their own booking conditions.

Trips departing in February 2022 and onwards

These trips are currently scheduled to depart as planned. We are closely monitoring the situation in all our destinations, and will notify you at least one month before your scheduled departure date if your trip is cancelled or changed. If you booked with a travel agent, they will notify you of any changes.

If you want to cancel your booking, please see our Booking Conditions or our COVID Protection (under Flexible Bookings) for the options available to you.

If you have a credit with us for a cancelled trip, here's how to re-book a future adventure for whenever it suits you. Use your credit for the same trip or put it towards any of our other adventures — it's your choice!

FAQs

As the world re-opens, we want to make sure your travels stay safe and are in line with local government regulations. We have cancelled some of our tours until 31 January 2022, so we can be sure that we're able to operate safely in those destinations, for both you and the local community. In the meantime, we also have local travel options if you'd like to explore close-to-home.

If you were booked on a tour that has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, you will automatically receive a credit of monies paid to Intrepid* with no expiry date. This excludes additional flights or insurance as they will have their own booking conditions.

You do not need to contact us to confirm your travel credit as it has been automatically applied to your Intrepid booking file. Simply contact us when the time comes that you are ready to re-book. You can redeem your travel credit on almost any Intrepid trip globally, so it does not have to be the same tour you were originally booked on. We want to provide you with as much flexibility as we can, so that you have plenty of time to plan and re-book your future travel with us.

*Please note different conditions apply for Polar, Adventure Cruises and select Tailor-Made trips. Please see our Booking Conditions for further details.

Your travel credit includes your Intrepid tour and any pre and post-trip accommodation or airport transfers you booked through us. It does not include any flights or insurance we have booked for you, as they will each have their own individual booking conditions associated with the provider.

Find out how to redeem your credit

Even though we had to cancel your trip, we really hope you'll travel with us again! That's why we've given you a credit with no expiry, which you can use towards your next adventure whenever it suits you. Whether you decide to re-book the same trip or take one that's completely different, we're ready to help you when the time is right.

In the meantime, your credit doesn't just secure your future travel plans, it also secures the future of the travel industry, helping us to employ people in our destinations around the globe. Your credit shows your trust in Intrepid and is a down payment on the kind of world you want to see when travel returns.

The majority of our customers have been happy to receive a travel credit, but we understand that in some instances this will not suit your personal situation. If this is the case for you, please complete the refund request form here and we will review your case in line with original Booking Conditions at time of your booking.

Yes, the Booking Conditions that applied when you booked your trip still apply now. In addition to the cancellation options available under those Booking Conditions, we have flexible options if you need to make changes before your full payment is due. We're also offering COVID Protection if COVID-19 interrupts your travel plans.

Our travellers come from all over the world, which means each traveller will be facing a different level of travel restrictions, depending on where they live. Due to the ever-changing nature of the variety of travel restrictions, we are waiting until between one and two months before a trip is scheduled to depart to make a decision on whether the trip will be running or not, in an effort to keep the possibility of travelling viable for any travellers who may be in a position to do so. All travellers will be notified of their options at least one month before they are scheduled to depart to allow them time to make any changes to their current arrangements.

All of our travel agent partners have been notified of their customers who have been impacted by the cancellation of tours up until 31 January 2022. We recommend you contact your travel agent directly for them to assist you with your booking and future travel arrangements, as some agencies may have different booking conditions and will already have all of your information on file.

You will receive a pro-rata travel credit that you can use towards another Intrepid tour that departs. This travel credit will be applied for the total number of days you did not receive and will be calculated by dividing the total cost of your tour by the number of days you did travel on your tour. You will also receive a pro-rata travel credit for post-accommodation or/and transfers you paid for.

Your Intrepid credit has no expiry date. Expiry dates for credits we have offered for flights, insurance or Polar voyages may vary. Visit our Credit Redemption page for further details.

If you booked your flights through us, please contact us so we can investigate the best options available to you. The options we can provide you for your flights will depend on the airline rules relevant to your airfare/s. If you booked your flights directly through the airline or a travel agent, please contact them for your tailored options.

At this stage, all trips departing from 1 February 2022 have not been cancelled and are scheduled to depart as planned. We are monitoring government foreign travel advice carefully for all other trips departing up until 31 January 2022 and will notify you at least one month before your scheduled departure date (via your booking agent) if your trip is cancelled, changed or going ahead.

If you want to cancel your booking, please see our Booking Conditions or our COVID Protection (under Flexible Bookings) for the options available to you.

We have currently cancelled many of our tours up until the end of January 2022 and will continue to monitor the situation carefully for tours beyond January.

If your trip is still scheduled to depart between now and January 2022, you will be contacted directly by our team or your travel agent with the latest information about whether you are able to join the group, based on your home country's current travel restrictions. We appreciate that in cases where the trip is running but not all nationalities are able to join, it is very disappointing and we are very sorry that all travellers are not able to join all our trips at this time.

Travellers who are able to go on their trip will be provided with additional on-trip health and safety and pre-departure information via email. Travellers who are not able to depart due to government travel restrictions will be notified by email and have a credit with no expiry date automatically applied to their file. If you have questions or concerns about your specific circumstances, please contact us or contact your travel agent if they helped you book with Intrepid.

We have a number of trips departing in locations where travel restrictions have eased and our COVID-19 Safe Travels protocols can be met. If you have a booking with us, you will be contacted directly by us via email or your travel agent approximately one month prior with an update on your trip and what is happening with your booking, regardless of whether your trip is departing or not. Please contact us or your travel agent if you are unsure.
