Why you'll love this trip
  • If you’re looking for a change of scenery, you’ve found it. From cruising between the sheer, multi-coloured walls of Geikie Gorge to jumping into red rock-ringed waterholes, this is a real back to nature escape.
  • Explore the Tunnel Creek cave system and learn about Jandamarra, a First Nations freedom fighter who used the caves as a hideout in the late 1800s.
  • Hike your way to Cathedral Gorge and wonder at the natural amphitheatre of red rock, hollowed out over millions of years to create this massive acoustic wonder.
  • Delve into Dreamtime with a local Gooniyandi guide as you hear traditional stories and discover the secrets of Mimbi Caves, a sanctuary of crystal-clear pools, rare fossils and ancient rock art.
  • Marvel at the red domes of Purnululu National Park – your spectacular eco-friendly feature stay lodge in the heart of the park provides the perfect base to discover its gorges, valleys and fiery sunsets.

Is this trip right for you?
  • On some days of the trip, you’ll spend several hours driving through very sparse areas of Australia. Sit back and enjoy landscapes that you would miss in any other form of travel. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie.
  • Weather conditions can be extreme in the Kimberley. Have a think about what time of the year best suits you to travel.
  • You’ll be travelling through regions with very little mobile service or internet connection.

Important notes

1.Please note that an arrival transfer is not included in the price of this trip. Please make your own way to the starting point hotel. Taxis are readily available at Broome Airport.

2.Days 2 and 3 on the August 28th departure will feature safari tents rather than motel rooms. Safari tents are en suite and have evaporative water coolers (rather than air conditioners)

3.Single Supplements are on Request for this trip.

4. Travel is always an adventure and, as destinations reopen, there are a few challenges as everyone gets back up to speed and adjusts to the new normal. Our leaders are experts when it comes to dealing with anything unexpected along the journey, so pack your understanding and flexibility, sit back and relax while they take care of the rest.

5. PRE-DEPARTURE TESTING
The remote Kimberley region is an extraordinary part of Australia, but also home to some of our nation’s most vulnerable people. In order to protect our Indigenous communities, fellow travellers and staff, we require all travellers on this trip to be fully vaccinated and to complete a rapid antigen test prior to boarding the vehicle on day 1, to be presented to the leader.

Definitely recommend the Kimberleys trip, especially with our guide Gareth. Tread in the footsteps of remote Australia & be stunned by its beauty. Lots of walking & early morning starts but the payoff is worth it. Felt great to be on the ground in Australia’s top end discovering more about our country & its sites under a great guide & with terrific locations. Do it!
