It’s a sad yet well-known fact that you can’t buy much for a single pound coin, euro or dollar bill these days. Particularly when living in places like Australia, Europe or the USA. But what we often forget is that there are still plenty of countries where this sum of money goes a long way.

Admittedly, it’ll stretch further on continents like Asia and Africa, than it will in Europe. For instance, in Egypt you can sit down to a hearty plate of koshary (a dish of pasta, rice, lentils, garbanzo beans and fried onions, topped with a tomato sauce). Or, in Denmark you can crunch your way through four juicy green apples. Which would you choose?
