Accommodation on Asia and Himalaya trips
We always pick accommodation that gives a real feel of the country you’re are visiting. With heritage properties, rich history and a fantastic cultural legacy, accommodation options in Asia are chock full of character. In Vietnam, Thailand, India and China we stay on overnight sleeper trains (always a great adventure for the kids). You can sleep on a traditional Junk boat in Halong Bay, with a local village family in Thailand, in a jungle eco-camp in Borneo, a houseboat in southern India and old Havelis in the desert towns of Rajasthan.
A taste of what's in store...
Each of Intrepid's family trips has been built with a smooth blend of action-packed activities and flexible family time, just the way we like it. Want to know the sort of adventures you can expect with us? We’ve picked out a few of our favourites.
Watch sumo training in Tokyo
Depending on the time of year, we can organise for the whole family to visit a working sumo stable. These are the training grounds where the wrestlers live, pray and practise. It’s a chance to pick up a few sumo techniques, but also learn about the sport’s close ties to Shinto religion.

Cycle through the temples of Bagan
Burma’s Bagan rivals Angkor Wat for the title of South-East Asia’s most spectacular temple site. Rising above the tree line and glowing gold in the morning sun, it’s home to over 2,200 Buddhist temples and pagodas. The best way to explore Bagan? Hop on a bike and get cycling.

Take a houseboat through the backwaters of Kerala
Kerala belongs to the water. This coastal region of southern India is a languid network of canals and waterways that flows through tea-covered hills and past small fishing villages. Board a traditional wooden houseboat and spend a few days away from the traditional Indian bustle.
Experience on Southern India Family holiday
Stay with locals in the jungles of Northern Thailand
North of the temple town of Chiang Mai you’ll find the Elephant Nature Park, a haven and rehabilitation centre for Asian elephants from around the region. You and the kids can meet these gentle giants, join in bath time and stay with local families in a nearby village.

Vietnam Family Holiday , July 2017
Please take any comments from above and also- this tour was an excellent family holiday. The youngest in our group was 5 and the oldest 75. We will always remember this trip- I would highly recommend it for anyone but especially a busy family who want to get away from their busy lives and enjoy time together in a very different place.

Vietnam Family Holiday , August 2017
This was a fantastic introduction to a fascinating country. In two weeks we feel like we did so much and learned lots about Vietnam, it's culture and people.

Vietnam Family Holiday , July 2017
If you travel to Vietnam on your own for 2 weeks and organise things yourself, there is no way you can cram in this many adventures and visits. We went for Vietnamese food every time, and had a delicious 2 weeks.
