A Treemendous day out

Intrepid Travel tree planting dayMelbourne folk, you’re invited to the 12th Annual Intrepid Tree Planting Day.  Join in with Intrepid staff and travellers to plant trees and shrubs in Yarra Bend Park near Merri Creek in Fairfield.

When: Sunday, 25 August, 2013, 10am to approx 2pm

Purpose: To widen the vegetation corridor along the Merri Creek as a flyway for birds and to lessen the visual impact of the Eastern freeway on the area. We have 900 plants to plant.

Where: Between Merri Creek and the Eastern Freeway, near Yarra Bend Road, Fairfield at Mel 2D E3.

Access: Yarra Bend Road is reached from Heidelberg Road, Fairfield – look out for the flags! An alternative access route is from Clifton Hill.  By this route, the planting site is accessed by crossing a footbridge into the park from the end of Roseneath Street, Mel 2D C4.  Public transport options include a bus on Heidelberg Road which stops near the junction with Yarra Bend Road and a train to Clifton Hill Station.

RSVP: responsible.business@intrepidtravel.com telling us how many people are coming, for catering purposes.

We’ll provide: tools, lots of seedlings, fresh air and a hearty BBQ and vego friendly lunch.

Please bring: gardening gloves, sturdy footwear, a spade if you have one (we’ll have a few) and a water bottle.
