USA Parks SummaryAdd to Shortlist
Rise early for a coffee in Starbucks's home town before hitting the road bound for the snow-capped volcanic peak of Mt Ranier. Seattle is not a city without charms, so, if time permits, booking a few extra days here is highly recommended.
Cross over the Columbia River into Montana. Nestled in the western Rockies, Missoula is a medium-sized city renowned for its clean air and clear skies.
Check out the bubbling sulphuric geysers and thermal hot springs of Yellowstone National Park. Chances are that elk, grizzlies and bison may be foraging about in the vicinity, so keep those eyes peeled.
Drive to Jackson, a picturesque valley town, home to some iconic wildlife. Choose from a number of well-marked Grand Teton hikes to set out on or settle down in a Western-style saloon for an authentic counter meal.
Pass through distinctly European villages en route to Salt Lake City and perhaps pop in to Temple Square for a glimpse of Mormonism.
Cross into Nevada and stretch the legs on a walk in the expansive Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest before settling down for the night in Elko.
Head westward along Highway 80 and through Sierra Nevada to Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in the US.
Make tracks into magnificent Yosemite National Park. Gaze in awe at giant redwoods, colossal cliffs and rushing waterfalls. In free time, why not head out for a hike along one of the many trails winding through the park.
End this voyage through the great parks of the US with a drive over San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. The city's rattling street cars and vibrant restaurant scene combine to make this one of the nation's most popular tourist destinations. With so many interesting sightseeing attractions to explore, perhaps stay on after the tour – visit Alcatraz or watch the sea lions flop and frolic on Fisherman's Wharf.

USA Parks, May 2014
Overall rating is good but minor improvements could be made to destination choice and accommodation to make this an excellent trip. Tour-guide was excellent and tried to meet all group expectations.
