Intrepid have great leaders who have a wealth of knowledge and are engaged in the whole trip with you. They do not encourage animal cruelty which was a huge plus for me and most importantly you are safe as their leaders know how to look after you.

Gili Islands Sailing Adventure ex Bali, July 2017

The Gili Islands is a fantastic destination and one which is wholly suited to a live-aboard sailing trip. The diversity of the islands ensures there is something to suit everyone, from the frenetic night life on Gili T, coupled with the superb Turtle population, through to the deserted islands of the south. The clear waters and abundant corals ensure a myriad of fish life! The seas here boast some of the best snorkeling in the region. The flexible nature of the itinerary also ensures the order can be adjusted to suit local weather conditions. I would have been extremely happy to spend another week on the boat!! For me personally this is a great tag on to one of the other tours in the region.

Travelling on the train enables a unique insight into the real lives of the chineese, Russians and Mongolians. We loved meeting locals and other travellers on the train, swapping stories, language, games and food to pass the time. It gives a great insight countries that you don't see on the TV or news.

Great trip lots of cycling and great scenery. Make sure you do some training to prepare for the long cycling days and lots of sunscreen, it's hot so a camelback was useful

Bali & Lombok: Hike, Bike and Raft, July 2017

A tremendous mix of physical & cultural activities that suited our family of 4. Our guide, Andy, was consistently professional, interesting & good humoured, a credit to Intrepid! The BIG hike up Mt Rinjani is no 'walk in the park' but a real slog. Don't underestimate the chance of rain, it is after all a hike through a RAIN-forest. Come with good waterproofs, pack a change of clothes in dry-bags and have a waterproof cover for your daypack. Accommodation is good & clean, food delicious, local beer & cocktails in abundance! Pack light as laundry can be done in most hotels. And you get to snorkel with turtles too. A great trip for a family with teenagers who need to be kept busy, well worth the long flights from Scotland!

The train journey was very enjoyable. The best aspect of the whole trip was the way we where introduced to the Russian and Mongolian way of life. St. Petersburg, Suzdal and the massive Ghengis Khan statue/ museum where amazing .
