Whatever it takes for street kids

What Ever It Takes Blue Dragon Appeal Vietnam“There’s been huge demand in recent months for urgent assistance to young boys and girls who have been trafficked, as well as the street kids here in Hanoi, who are having a pretty awful time at the moment” says Michael Brosowski, Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation’s Founder and Director.

“There’s no doubt about it: crisis situations are more common and vastly more complex than when we started 10 years ago. Most kids we meet now have left broken families, escaped abuse, or been deceived and trafficked. The kids’ desperate need for money means they may do anything, including selling themselves for sex or committing crimes. Unfortunately, we are seeing more people who devote themselves to preying on kids to exploit their vulnerability,” says Michael. “The situation is desperate.”

Blue Dragon works with kids in crisis in Vietnam. Their shelters, centres, and classes currently serve over 1500 children aged 6 to 20. Blue Dragon reaches homeless youth in Hanoi, assists rural students to go to school, and has rescued almost 300 trafficked children from factories and brothels, both in Vietnam and China.

Blue Dragon has launched the Whatever It Takes appeal, aiming to raise $192,000 by 15 July to finance crisis services into the coming year, to help address this huge demand.  The funds raised through this appeal will provide emergency support for kids across their programs, including street kids who are facing more dangerous situations than ever before, like being approached by sexual predators, gangs and others looking for vulnerable kids, and young people trafficked to garment factories or brothels in China; as well as after-care services such as accommodation, medical support, and schooling.

Please support the Whatever it Takes 2013 Appeal and help Blue Dragon to raise $192,000 so they can:

  1. Rescue 70 trafficked kids from sweatshops
  2. Rescue 15 trafficked girls from brothels
  3. Reunite 50 runaway children with their families
  4. Provide nutrition, social workers and shelter
  5. Provide counselling and health care
  6. Educate and train 200 kids
  7. Serve 10,000 meals to street kids
  8. Build 5 houses for families
  9. Clothe at least 200 kids
  10. Safely accommodate 60 children
