Say ‘ciao’ to Italy with an aperitivo at a traditional local bar. Start the next morning with a cup of Italy’s superb coffee before visiting a famed bakery for some baked treats. Explore the Trionfale Market, where the art of pasta making will be demonstrated followed by a tasty lunch in a surrounding bar.
Get a taste of Tuscany while staying at a family-run winery on the outskirts of beautiful San Gimignano. Discover the region’s best wines on a wine-tasting tour before discovering the charm of this area on a guided walk though the medieval town. This is the perfect place to relax – spend time exploring the vineyard, helping out on the farm, lazing in fields or joining a cooking class to learn how to make divine regional dishes.
In the region famed for introducing bolognese sauce to the world, participate in a cooking class in the heart of a local food market. Travel to Modena to visit an acetaia (vinegar loft) and learn about the special way Balsamic vinegar is produced here.
Take a fabulous cicchetti (Venice’s answer to tapas) tour: wind through ancient streets, taste local specialties and take a step through history at each restaurant and bar visited.
Head out into the agriturismo-rich area of Marca Trevigiana, famous for its sparkling Prosecco and divine local produce. Savour delicious mountain cheeses on a visit to a local cheesemaker before visiting an artisan salami ‘factory’. Then spend a tough afternoon learning to make melt-in-your-mouth gelato with an award-winning gelato-maker in beautiful Treviso.
Before you leave this wonderful city behind, perhaps wake early and follow your nose to the Rialto Market. This fascinating market is a food lover’s paradise, and the perfect place for the freshest breakfast in town.
